In this video, Dr. Berg talks about Erythritol. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol but it doesn’t have alcohol in it. It is an alternative sweetener and is 70% of the sweetness as actual table sugar. It has a cooling factor and zero glycemic index and it does not increase the blood sugars. He also talks about where problems with Erythritol.

So I wanna talks about erythritol. It is a sugar alcohol but it doesn’t have alcohol in it. People sometime have their confusion thinking they’re consuming alcohol. No it does not have alcohol in it. Erythritol is an alternative sweetener, It is 70% of sweetness as the actual table sugar. It has a cooling factor so it’s kind of like a cold sensation. It’s zero in the glycemic index so it does not increase your blood sugars. Bacteria have a hard time consuming this sugar so you are not gonna have as much digestive problems as much as other sugar alcohols like maltitol that will actually give you much bloating and gas. This one (Erythritol) you want to consume a little bit more before you had that effect. But in large quantities, you’re gonna have a laxative effect, stomach rumbling and probably a lot of gas. Now a lot of products that use this alternative sugar also use inulin, this is a fiber from chicory root and from other things as well. Because you are consuming a product that has been exposed to GMO corn and that’s a problem. So, would i recommend it? yes i would recommend it, just make sure it is non-GMO erythritol.
