you got to make sure you’re using the right coconut because otherwise it’s going to taste like garbage and I’m doing this video because the last video I did surrounding my low carb hot chocolate that used coconut cream prompted a lot of comments a lot of messages and a lot of emails surrounding the right utilization of coconut cream versus coconut milk coconut butter coconut water so I figured I’d explain them briefly for you because at the end of the day they’re all pretty similar and a lot of times they’re just different constitutions of the same thing so let’s start with coconut cream so coconut cream you generally get out of a can I haven’t seen it in any other form than a can now basically what it is is it’s a very condensed coconut milk that almost comes out the consistency of like sour cream sometimes even a little bit more firm than that this is perfect to add when you’re trying to get a creamy consistency maybe to curries or maybe you’re trying to add it to a beverage to make it have a little bit more of a milky consistency and trying to get a little bit more fat in so there’s a lot more saturated fat in this than in other coconut milks then the next one is going to be light coconut milk this is the kind of you usually cook with you can hear that it actually has a little bit of a liquid sound to it it’s not in a solid state this is not the kind of thing that you typically want to add to a drink because it’s not adding the saturated fats that you need this is a lot more of a watery kind of substance better for cooking then we have coconut butter or creamed coconut totally different from traditional coconut cream so coconut butter is taking coconut cream to the next level where it is actually reduced even more to the point where it’s more like a butter you’re just left with the fiber and the fat more or less it’s literally like a butter you could spread it on bread you could cook with it you can spread it over your pasta you can do all kinds of things so that’s a much healthier alternative than butter then of course we have coconut water whole different ballgame so coconut water does not contain any of the meat of the coconut it is just a strong electrolyte balancing drink that is literally the water from inside of a coconut usually added with some other water and sometimes added with sugar so you have to be careful the only one that I don’t have right here is actual coconut milk in a carton and what coconut milk in a carton is is more of an actual beverage if you were to drink one of these you would be consuming so many calories you probably end up feeling nauseous so coconut milk when I refer to it in the carton is basically a little bit of coconut milk that’s from a can but it’s reconstituted with a lot of water so it’s more of a beverage that’s great when you’re just trying to drink something or you’re just trying to add it with cereal or something like that so I hope this clears some things up I’m with a diversity coconut cream coconut butter coconut milk coconut water and coconut milk from a carton yes as always keep it locked in here in my videos for more ways to get in the best possible shape of your life while using your brain not just your body I’ll see you soon

We have to make sure you’re using the right coconut because otherwise it’s going to taste like garbage. I’m doing this video because the last video I did surrounding my low carb hot chocolate that used coconut cream prompted a lot of comments, a lot of messages, and a lot of emails surrounding the right utilization of coconut cream verses coconut milk, coconut butter, coconut water. I figured I’d explain them briefly for you because at the end of the day they’re all pretty similar and a lot of times they’re just different constitutions of the same thing.

Let’s start with coconut cream. You generally get it out of a can. I haven’t seen it in any other form than a can. Now basically what this is, is a very condensed coconut milk that almost comes out the consistency of sour cream. Sometimes, even a little bit more firm than that. This is perfect to add when you’re trying to get a creamy consistency maybe to curries or maybe you’re trying to add it to a beverage to make it have a little more of a milky consistency and trying to get a little bit more fat in. There’s a lot more saturated fat in this than in other coconut milks. But that doesn’t mean that coconut is bad for you. A lot of people ask if coconut is bad for your health, but the simple truth is, no, coconut is healthy!

Then the next one is going to be light coconut milk. This is the kind that you usually cook with. You can hear that it actually has a little bit of a liquid sound to it. It’s not in a solid state. This is not the kind of thing that you typically want to add to a drink because it’s not adding the saturated fats that need. This is a lot more of a watery kind of substance. Better for cooking.

Then we have coconut butter or creamed coconut which is totally different from traditional coconut cream. Coconut butter is taking coconut cream to the next level where it is actually reduced even more to the point where it’s more like a butter. You’re just left with the fiber and the fat more or less. You could spread it on bread. You could cook with it. You can spread it over your pasta. You can do all kinds of things. Except it’s a much healthier alternative than butter.

Then of course we have coconut water, which is a whole different ball game. Coconut water does not contain any of the meat of the coconut. It is just a strong electrolyte balancing drink that is literally the water from inside of a coconut usually added with some other water and sometimes added with sugar, so you have to be careful. In short, coconut water is what you want in order to boost your mineral and electrolyte balance.

The only one that I don’t have right here is actual coconut milk in a carton. What coconut milk in a carton is, is more of an actual beverage. If you were to drink one of these you would be consuming so many calories you’d probably end up feeling nauseous, so coconut milk when I refer to it in the carton is basically a little bit of coconut milk that’s from a can but it’s reconstituted with a lot of water so it’s more of a beverage. That’s great when you’re just trying to drink something or you’re just trying to add it with cereal or something like that.
