In this video, Dr. Berg talks about the terrible side-effects of doing the Ketogenic Diet, called the Keto Adaptation. In order to get into Keto (Ketosis), the carbs must be dropped and force the body to burn fat, deplete the glycogen reserve and intermittent fasting is the most powerful way.

Keto Adaptation Symptoms:
• Fatigue
• Flu
• Rash
• Headache
• Weak

Several Ways to Deal with it:
• Gradual: No Intermittent Fasting – 3 meals (5 Days) – Slight Side Effects
• Fast: with Intermittent Fasting – 2 meals a day (2 Days or less) – more symptoms

Ways to Minimize Symptoms:
• B Vitamins – (Nutritional Yeast, B1 or Thiamine, B Complex and Unfortified) Take before and during the Gradual Process. This is important because the enzymes and the pathways of burning fat fuel require more B vitamins.
• Potassium – Get a good electrolyte and vegetables
• Sea Salt – (Himalayan Sea Salt) to avoid headaches and weakness

Hey guys we are gonna talk about the terrible side effects of going on a ketogenic diet. This is called keto-adaptation and there’s several ways to deal with it, now we can do the gradual way or we can do peel-the-band-aid off and do a fast approach. The gradual way is basically you are gonna have some mild symptoms cause what you are doing is you are making a transition from running your body in sugar fuel to fat fuel. You may have some fatigue, flu, keto rash, headache and feel weak. The gradual way involves not adding intermittent fasting all you are doing is you’re still be doing your three meals maybe even snacks but you are cutting your carbs down into going higher fat. It is more comfortable but you might get some slight side effects here but it is not gonna be as intense but it is gonna last longer. In other words, you are gonna have some of these symptoms for a longer period of time because you are not adding intermittent fasting to this keto (ketogenic diet). But if we wanna go fast, peel-the-band-aid off and just get it over with and get into the fat burning, you can probably do it in two days or less. Now you may have more symptoms, fatigue, keto flu, rash, headache possibly , i’ll come back to that. But we wanna add intermittent fasting. why? Because in order to get into keto, we have to drop the carbs and force our body to burn fat, we have to deplete the glycogen reserves, the storage of sugar. And intermittent fasting is hands down the most powerful way to do that. If we actually don’t consume carbs and add this together, we can get through this really fast. Versus this way where you are eating more frequently, you are raising more insulin, you are converting more to sugar. You don’t really delete these as fast and you kind of just prolonged things. I am gonna recommend, rip the band aid off, do it fast, add intermittent fasting with keto (ketogenic diet). I put a link down below on exactly how to do this, if you are not familiar with it.
