people look at me and they say Thomas you’ve got it all together you’ve got a business you’ve got a wife you’ve got a wonderful kid you’ve got your health you’ve got your body the only and they say you’ve got it all you’ve got this whole package you know teach me teach me how to do this the thing is is no I don’t have it all together I have it all together at each respective point in time and I have some advice for you today because so many people keep coming to me and they want me to teach them how I get all this together in reality we have to understand and I have to be honest with you that this is the internet it’s easy for me to show you bits and pieces of my life and it’s easy for you to start making the connection in your brain that everything is perfect all the time but it’s not and we have to understand how the brain works so I want to talk today about how you can truly start being the best in every aspect of your life in each respective time you see people always want to be an amazing husband an amazing father an amazing business person they want to be super healthy they want to be loved they want to be liked by the community all at the same exact time and if you ask me that’s truly a narcissistic way of looking at it because it’s not realistic now I’m not saying that you’re a narcissist I’m saying that you probably don’t have a solid understanding of how the brain really works see the brain doesn’t have an ability to multitask so it’s impossible for me to focus on being an amazing husband and an amazing father at the same time that I’m focusing on running my business at the same time that I’m focusing on what to eat at that very point in time at the same time that I’m trying to be in touch with any spiritual beliefs that I might have you see it’s impossible to do this all at once so you might be wondering well okay that how does one do this how does one become well-versed in all these different areas of their life well it first comes with understanding that we cannot multitask we can’t do this all at once the brain doesn’t have that capability what the brain can do is task switch so when I’m working with people what I’m working with executives are when I’m working with pro athletes or when I’m working with high-profile actors a lot of the things that I talk about are things that relate back down to being present so if we don’t have the ability to multitask then how do we do this okay so if we break down our lives into the different pillars that are important to us I generally break them down into four yeah break it down into health and mindset right down into family into business and then of course your spirituality or your religion depending who you are it doesn’t really matter the thing is we have to look at these four pillars and if we neglect any one of them our lives start to crumble and if we promote too much of one our lives will begin to be unbalanced so we have to make sure that we’re always treating them with balance but you cannot give 25 percent effort to each thing all at once otherwise you’re never going to be successful in those areas and you can’t give a hundred percent of your effort to each one of those areas at once because you don’t have 400 percent you have a hundred percent so how on earth can you be giving a hundred percent into your business 100 percent into your family 100 percent into your health and 100% into your religion or your spirituality the same time you tell me how that math works what you can do is understand where you are in every single moment every single second of each day and that is how I exactly do it that’s exactly how it works for me when I have my business hat on at that very moment in time I am 100% focused on that my mind is not deviated when I am at home with my family and I am in family mode my mind does not deviate when I am thinking about my mind and I’m trying to be spiritual I’m trying to get in touch with meditation there’s nothing else there when I am focusing on what to eat at that very given point in time you better believe there is nothing else on my mind other than what is right in front of me at that very second this does not mean that you time chunk and time categorize into 30 minute or 60 minute periods you cannot expect your brain to be that focus for that period of time what I mean is literally living in the second so if you go home and you hug your wife or you go home and you kiss your baby on the forehead you should not at that very second be thinking about business but how many of us subconsciously are thinking about work while we’re trying to pretend to love our family and we may be joking with ourselves to be honest because we’re not really loving our family at that point in time if you were really loving your family business would not be on your mind it’s okay if one minute later you go back to business that’s all fine but you need to be 100% dedicated and 100% in the moment when you are literally in that moment and we also have to be real with ourselves we don’t always have to be the extroverts that we want to be you know the interesting thing is that we’re always taught that the extrovert ideal is what we should be from the moment that we’re born from the moment that we go to school we’re taught that we should be the loud person that is always heard or the popular person or the rock star or the actor or someone high-profile but we never realized that high-profile people aren’t always high-profile in public we don’t know many of the founders of amazing companies we don’t know the founders of many health movements we only know the ones that are the extroverts but we don’t really know the ones that are quietly actually making things happen so you have to be real with yourself first be real with what’s really making you happy are you trying to achieve an extrovert ideal where you look perfect on the outside by trying to be a perfect husband perfect father perfect mother everything like that or are you trying to just be happy and find true balance the first thing is getting yourself in check and understanding that that’s gonna be the first and foremost thing that you can do before any of this applies but I have an exercise for you for the next two days I want you to focus on thinking about whatever is going on at that very second when you open the refrigerator door there should be nothing else on your mind other than what is right in front of you if you’re activating the portion of your brain that is allowing you to make a decision why on earth would you be clouding it with other decisions at that point in time it makes zero sense and we’re flooded with a lot of different things coming at us at warp speed and I understand it’s difficult but that’s what you have to do live in the moment live in the present get back to earth for a minute and trust me you’re gonna find that your health gets better your family is happier your business will prosper a lot more and it’ll be a lot more in touch with your spirituality so as always keep it locked in here on my channel if you have ideas for future videos you like these psychology and mindset topics let me know you spoke last time you said you loved them when I do the self discipline video so why the heck not let’s do some one I’ll see you in the next

Optimize Your Life: How to Balance Diet, Career & Family- Thomas DeLauer…
People look at me and they say, “Thomas, you’ve got it all together. You’ve got a business. You’ve got a wife. You’ve got a wonderful kid. You’ve got your health. You’ve got your body.” And they say, “You’ve got it all! You’ve got this whole package. Teach me. Teach me how to do this.” The thing is, is no, I don’t have it all together. I have it all together at each respective point in time, and I have some advice for you today, because so many people keep coming to me and they want me to teach them how I get all of this together. In reality, we have to understand, and I have to be honest with you, that this is the internet. It’s easy for me to show you bits and pieces of my life, and it’s easy for you to start making the connection in your brain that everything is perfect all the time, but it’s not. And we have to understand how the brain works.

So, I want to talk today about how you can truly start being the best in every aspect of your life, in each respective time. You see, people always want to be an amazing husband, an amazing father, an amazing business person. They want to be super healthy, they want to be loved, they want to be liked by the community, all at the same, exact time. And if you ask me, that’s truly a narcissistic way of looking at it, because it’s not realistic. Now, I’m not saying that you’re a narcissist. I’m saying that you probably don’t have a sold understanding of how the brain really works.

See, the brain doesn’t have an ability to multitask, so it’s impossible for me to focus on being an amazing husband and an amazing father, at the same time that I’m focusing on running my business, at the same time that I’m focusing on what to eat at that very point in time, at the same time that I’m trying to be in touch with any spiritual beliefs that I might have. You see, it’s impossible to do this all at once. So, you might be wondering, “Well, okay, then how does one do this? How does one become well-versed in all these different areas of their life?” Well, it first comes with understanding that we cannot multitask. We can’t do this all at once. The brain doesn’t have that capability.

What the brain can do is task switch. So when I’m working with people … When I’m working with executives or when I’m working with pro athletes or when I’m working with high-profile actors, a lot of the things that I talk about are things that relate back down to being present. So, if we don’t have the ability to multitask, then how do we do this?

Okay, so if we break down our lives into the different pillars that are important to us, I generally break them down into four. I break it down into health and mindset, break it down into family, into business, and then, of course, your spirituality or your religion, depending on who you are, it doesn’t really matter. The thing is, we have to look at these four pillars, and if we neglect any one of them, our lives start to crumble, and if we promote too much of one, our lives will begin to be unbalanced. So we have to make sure that we’re always treating them with balance. But you cannot give 25% effort to each thing all at the same time, otherwise you’re never going to be successful in those areas. And you can’t give 100% of your effort to each one of those areas at once, because you don’t have 400%. You have 100%.

So, how on Earth can you be giving 100% into your business, 100% into your family, 100% into your health, and 100% into your religion or your spirituality at the same time? You tell me how that math works? What you can do is understand where you are in every single moment, every single second of each day, and that is how I exactly do it. That’s exactly how it works for me. When I have my business hat on, at that very moment in time, I am 100% focused on that. My mind does not deviate. When I am at home with my family, and I am in family-mode, my mind does not deviate. When I am thinking about my mind and I’m trying to be spiritual, I’m trying to get in touch with meditation, there is nothing else there. When I am focusing on what to eat at that very given point in time, you better believe there is nothing else on my mind other than what is right in front of me, at that very second.
