so here’s the thing the ketogenic diet can be a little bit tough on the gut and here’s why a lot of times people don’t have the bile salts built up to truly break down the fats that you’re consuming you see the true ketogenic diet you should be consuming 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 fats to protein that’s a lot of fat and if you’re not accustomed to that it can be a little bit difficult in your body you might find yourself getting a little bit bloated you might even find yourself constipated or sometimes the opposite and it’s usually an indicator that your body’s not producing enough and the way of bile just yet but give it time it gets there so what I’ve done is I’ve come up with a recipe that utilizes a lot of different ingredients that helps this whole process out so if you’re new to the ketogenic diet it’s gonna help you get into ketosis a little bit faster simply because it’s gonna give you the necessary components that you need to start breaking down those fats so your liver can turn them in to ketones then if you’re already in ketosis you can utilize this to get a little boost out of your digestion and ultimately use more of those fats so you get more ketones so it’s good for beginners and for intermediate and advanced and if you haven’t already I want to make sure you subscribe to my channel there’s a subscribe button right down below you can also turn on notifications so you never miss a beat when it comes down to my videos super simple recipe with this one first thing we’re gonna do is we’re gonna go ahead and we’re gonna heat up some bone broth and those of you that follow my channel know that I am a huge huge fan of kettle and fire I know Justin over there personally good friend of mine so I always offer my subscribers a discount so I’m gonna go ahead I’m gonna add a whole carton of kettle and fire beef from ruff here’s the thing I’m using the beef one because it’s higher in collagen collagen is not just about the joint health it’s not just about the mucosal layer of the gut I talk about that a lot where there’s an entirely different aspect that isn’t talked about a lot and that’s the fact that glycine which is the predominant amino acid that is in collagen makes up over 1/3 of collagen is huge it’s in fact it’s critical to the production of bile salts bile salts are secreted by the liver in the gallbladder to ultimately break down the fats the bile salts literally emulsify fat fat doesn’t just absorb into the system it has to be a mole Safed just like when you put oil in water it doesn’t mix so the bile salts give it something to actually react to so we can absorb the fats a lot of times we don’t have enough bile built up and we first started ketogenic diet so that’s collagen is critical to the bile production thereby critical to fat metabolism so all I’m doing is I’m heating that up nothing fancy okay then what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna go ahead and I’m gonna take some raw ginger and I’m just gonna take a couple little shavings of this I don’t care if it’s got the peel or anything I just want to get probably about a tablespoon of raw ginger by the time it’s all said and done don’t worry if you get big chunks in there because you’re gonna end up simmering it you’re gonna filter it out ultimately there’s a big reason that I’m putting ginger in here and it’s not just because it tastes good the whole idea behind ginger is it contains something known as ginger oils which I’ve talked about in videos a lot ginger oils do something interesting they reduce nuclear factor Kappa B which is sort of the master inflammatory hormone so basically what it’s doing is by reducing nuclear factor Kappa B we’re reducing a lot of the other inflammatory signals in the body so over 400 different inflammatory responses respond through nuclear factor Kappa B so if we reduce nuclear factor Kappa B we’re basically turning off the master switch for inflammation so it’s very very important but also ginger all is a natural appetite suppressant so very very powerful there so all we’re all just very easy on the gut reducing the inflammation in the gut then I have turmeric you all know that I’m a huge fan of turmeric I have it in a powder form some people will tell you that you’re not gonna absorb it without black pepper which is partially true but black pepper also turns off your livers ability to filter other things so I don’t like combining it with black pepper in fact I usually take it in a liposomal form but in this case I’m using a straight-up powder because there’s only a few of the extracts from curcumin that I actually need so I’m going to go ahead and going to add a half a tablespoon of that I’ve also added a half a tablespoon of ginger powder too so it gets in there a little bit better here’s the interesting thing about turmeric yes it reduces inflammation but that’s not why i’m altima adding it here you see it slows down the breakdown of type 2 collagen within the body we have type 1 and type 2 collagen usually our bodies when they’re in an inflamed state they start to break down are naturally occurring type 2 collagen so if we can stop that process by adding some turmeric curcumin into the mix then we are able to get our bodies to a state where they’re not breaking down our own intestinal layer but it’s also making it so that bile production stays high I’m gonna grab the spatula I’m gonna stir this up a little bit this is simmering pretty good I want to simmer it for a few minutes I got a couple more ingredients I want to add to it okay now it’s about getting a little bit fun now I’m adding about two tablespoons of lemon but I’m just gonna kind of eyeball this why am i adding lemon that seems kind of weird to be adding citrus to a broth well there’s a good reason and it has to do with pectin so pectin is an indigestible fiber which means it’s going to help push along everything that you’re consuming but it’s also going to slow the absorption of some of the carbohydrates that might inadvertently be in the mix with your diet meaning it’s gonna lessen the glycemic impact meaning you’re gonna have less of an insulin response which means you’re going to be able to respond to the fats better so basically reducing the negative footprint of the carbs that might still be in your diet a little bit lastly two tablespoons of coconut cream all I’ve got here is full fat coconut milk that’s been in the fridge okay if it’s if it hardens up like this in the fridge that’s what you want okay that means it’s got a high saturated fat content that means it’s not the light coconut milk that’s basically just coconut water with a few of the milk solids this is straight-up full of fat coconut milk okay and we want this yes hey we’re getting some medium chain triglycerides but we’re also getting the lauric acid component the same kind of thing you would get if you were to have coconut oil but coconut oil would separate in this we wouldn’t want that coconut cream is gonna mix nice and easy get you a good consistency it’s gonna make it nice and creamy stir this up a little bit more I might even add a little bit more coconut cream make this a little bit better so you can add two you can add three tablespoons the lauric acid is gonna help balance out your good and your bad gut bacteria you see lauric acid converts to something known as mono Lauren within the body mono Lauren is some pretty amazing stuff it’s been shown in multiple studies to reduce the impact of what is called gram-negative bacteria gram-negative bacteria ultimately multiplies into a plethora of bad bacteria and we’re always trying to keep it in balance especially when we’re indoctrinating new foods into the diet like higher amounts of fat our gut bacteria isn’t used to that and if we have an influx of bad bacteria it’s gonna be pretty hard on the body so this is almost done just letting this simmer for a little bit more and I think we’re in business actually another 30 seconds or so just to let those coconuts solids get all the way there you might be wondering when do you want to drink this like when’s the best time to actually consume this any time of day this is a perfect breakfast replacement if you’re someone that’s hooked on bulletproof coffee this might be a better alternative you’re not gonna get the caffeine from it but you’re gonna get the better benefit as far as satiation goes as far as the stomach benefits go and as far as overall of well-being it’s just a healthier option I’m not anti bulletproof coffee at all I just think that this is a better option because you’re gonna get a lot more nutrients from it you’re getting the collagen I think that we’re here in business and remember guys you can get my discount on the kettle and fire so you don’t have to go buy expensive bone broth so you can check that out in the description below so I’m just gonna pour some of this in you can filter out the ginger chunks or you can just make sure you don’t hit them when you’re sipping on it let’s give it a taste it looks like turmeric bone broth that is really good I did get a ginger chunk I’m gonna take another sip so I get a better chat yeah that creamy consistency is awesome normally bone broth is a little bit rough kettle and fire bone broth is really good to begin with but this adds like a nice creamy consistency it tastes a lot like when I put this it tastes a lot like a latte like you get that kind of that smoothness that you normally get kind of in the top of your mouth that you get when you sip on a latte that’s really really good the cool thing is you can feel it going all the way down and because of the collagen in it you actually feel a soothing feeling going all the way down your throat it’s actually really really good and I’m drinking it piping hot if you let it cool for a minute you actually feel that kind of cooling sensation in your gut which is literally the first step of cyclooxygenase enzymes being decreased so meaning you’re literally starting to reduce inflammation in your gut right then in there so anyway this is a quick simple recipe I drug this out a little bit longer than it normally takes if you can make this in just a couple of minutes of course I drug it out to explain the science but as always make sure you’re letting you know what videos you want to see if there’s specific recipes you want to see get their specific ailments you want to see recipes to fix just let me know in the comment section below and definitely take advantage of the kettle of right you guys I’m gonna go sip on this and enjoy it I’ll see y’all in the next video [Music]

Keto Bone Broth Turmeric Recipe: Reduce Bloating- Thomas DeLauer… Here’s the thing, the ketogenic diet can be a little bit tough on the gut, and here’s why. This one is a super simple recipe. First thing we’re going to do is we are going to go ahead and we’re going to heat up some bone broth. Those of you that follow my channel know that I am a huge, huge fan of Kettle and Fire. I know Justin over there personally, good friend of mine, so I always offer my subscribers a discount. I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to add a whole carton of Kettle and Fire beef bone broth. Here’s the thing. I’m using the beef one because it’s higher in collagen. Collagen is not just about the joint health, it’s not just about the mucosal layer of the gut. I talk about that a lot, but there’s an entirely different aspect that isn’t talked about a lot.

That’s the fact that glycine, which is the predominant amino acid that is in collagen, makes up over a third of collagen, is huge, in fact it’s critical to the production of bile salts. Bile salts are secreted by the liver and the gallbladder to ultimately break down the fats. The bile salts literally emulsify fat. Fat doesn’t just absorb into the system, it has to be emulsified. Just like when you oil in water, it doesn’t mix. The bile salts give it something to actually react to, so we can absorb the fats. A lot of times, we don’t have enough bile built up when we first start a ketogenic diet, so this collagen is critical to the bile production, thereby critical to the fat metabolism. All I’m doing is I’m heating that up, nothing fancy.

Then what I’m going to do is I’m going to go ahead and I’m going to take some raw ginger, and I’m just going to take a couple little shavings of this. Don’t worry if you get big chunks in there because you’re going to end up simmering it and you’re going to filter it out ultimately. There’s a big reason that I’m putting ginger in here, and it’s not just because it tastes good.

The whole idea behind ginger is it contains something known as gingerols, which I’ve talked about in videos a lot. Gingerols do something interesting. They reduce nuclear factor kappa B, which is sort of the master inflammatory hormone. Basically, what it’s doing is by reducing nuclear factor kappa B, we’re reducing a lot of the other inflammatory signals in the body. Over 400 different inflammatory responses respond through nuclear factor kappa B. If we reduce nuclear factor kappa B, we’re basically turning off the master switch for inflammation, so it’s very, very important. Also, gingerol is a natural appetite suppressant, so very, very powerful there. Overall, this is just very easy on the gut, reducing the inflammation in the gut.
