Seuss did that because he wanted to set constraints for himself you see constraints are an important thing when it comes to making a decision it may be a decision for your health it might be making a decision for your family or maybe it’s making a decision in the workplace well the thing is we have way too much to think about way too much in the way of decisions to choose just one we end up with that analysis paralysis that famed time lapse where we can’t focus on anything so that’s why the purpose of this video is to talk about constraints and how setting constraints can actually funnel you in to the most success that you could possibly ever have you see when dr. Seuss sat down to write that book his whole purpose was I’m gonna write this book with 50 words so that I’m focused so that I don’t get off on a tangent so I don’t go off in a different direction but let me talk about how that applies to you possibly in business or in health if you allow yourself to focus on exercising for only 10 minutes per day and you give yourself that constraint you only have 10 minutes to exercise you’re not going to burn yourself out you’re gonna focus on that 10 minutes you’re gonna focus on that 10 minutes and then the next day you might start being able to justify going to 15 but you’re always setting parameters you see policy defines us and when policy is set in place by other people oftentimes we’ve resent it we resent that policy because it’s not us that is setting it for ourselves and we set strict constraints on what we can choose to do it funnels us in that right direction so let’s say you’ve got the choice of eating vegetables at night have you ever asked your spouse what veggie do you want to have what side do you want to have with dinner and it turns into a 20-minute ordeal trying to figure out what you’re gonna have now what if you were to say do you want broccoli or do you want carrots it’s gonna be that much easier to make that decision you see you’re setting constraints for yourself and when you set constraints you can make them specific specific to what foods you want to eat specific to what healthy choices you want to make and specific to what kind of healthy exercise choices you want to make so let’s talk about it in the business world you know you’re flooded with ideas constantly which direction do you go how many things do you want to tackle well set constraints set a constraint on what you want to focus on this week so you can take that attention you can focus it and not have to worry about the external factors you see sometimes limitation is best because those business people we’ve got these grandiose ideas and we want to execute on all of them sometimes we need ourselves to cast in the rails a little bit and keep us focused on what’s important at that very point in time thanks for watching see in the next video

Dr. Seuss did that because he wanted to set constraints for himself. Constraints are an important thing when it comes to making a decision. It may be a decision for your health, it might be making a decision for your family, or maybe it’s making a decision in the work place. The thing is, we have way too much to think about. Way too much in the way of decisions to choose just one. We end up with that analysis paralysis, that famed time lapse where we can’t focus on anything. That’s why the purpose of this video is to talk about constraints and how setting constraints can actually funnel you in to the most success that you could possibly ever have.

When Dr. Seuss sat down to write that book, his whole purpose was, “I’m going to write this book with 50 words so that I’m focused, so that I don’t get off on a tangent, so I don’t go off in a different direction.” Let me talk about how that applies to you possible in business or in health. If you allow yourself to focus on exercising for only 10 minutes per day and you give yourself that constraint, you only have 10 minutes to exercise. You’re not going to burn yourself out, you’re going to focus on that 10 minutes. You’re going to focus on that 10 minutes then the next day you might start being able to justify going to 15, but you’re always setting perimeters. Policy defines us, and when policy is set in place by other people, often times we resent it. We resent that policy because it’s not us that is setting it for ourselves.

We set strict constraints on what we can choose to do, it funnels us in the right direction. Let’s say you’ve got the choice of eating vegetables at night, have you ever asked your spouse, “What veggie do you want to have? What side do you want to have with dinner?” And it turns into a 20 minute ordeal of trying to figure out what you’re going to have. What if you were to say, “Do you want broccoli or do you want carrots?” It’s going to be that much easier to make that decision. You see, you’re setting constraints for yourself and when you set constraints you can make them specific to what foods you want to eat, specific to what healthy choices you want to make and specific to what kind of healthy exercise choices you want to make.

Let’s talk about it in the business world. You’re flooded with ideas constantly, which direction do you go? How many things do you want to tackle? Set constraints. Set a constraint on what you want to focus on this week so that you can take that attention and you can focus it, and not have to worry about the external factors. Sometimes limitation is best because as business people, we’ve got these grandiose ideas and we want to execute on all of them.
