Today we’re going to talk about what could be behind an enlarged prostate that can potentially affect urination.

When a man ages, the prostate enlarges. The prostate is a gland that wraps around a little tube that’s coming from your bladder. If the prostate enlarges, it can shut down the tube and affect the ability to urinate.

A person’s hormones can be classified into two categories:
Anabolic — has everything to do with building something up
Catabolic — has everything to do with breaking something down

When you eat food, there is a catabolic effect. Enzymes break down food into basic building blocks like amino acids and fatty acids. Then, anabolic hormones kick in and make body tissue out of the building blocks. When the prostate enlarges, there is something anabolic going on.

Anabolic hormones:
• Prolactin
• Estrogen
• DHT/Androgens
• Cortisol
• Growth hormone
• IGF-1
• Progesterone
• Insulin

Milk has the majority of the anabolic hormones above. Milk is a very powerful anabolic substance that is turned into cheese, yogurt, kefir, and more. If you have problems with urination or an enlarged prostate, you may want to stop consuming milk and milk products.

Sugar or a high-carb diet can trigger insulin. Insulin can potentially cause an enlarged prostate. You may want to stop consuming sugar and get on the healthy keto plan.

Estrogen can also potentially cause an enlarged prostate. Soy is a big source of estrogen. Non-organic vegetables and foods can also have chemicals that mimic estrogen.

Potential remedies for the prostate:
1. Saw palmetto
2. Green tea
3. Pumpkin seeds
4. Zinc
5. Lycopene

A diet for someone with an enlarged prostate:
• Healthy keto
• Intermittent fasting
• Consume more cruciferous vegetables

In this video, we’re going to talk about macros and how to visualize your plate instead of counting calories.

The three macronutrients are proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.

Most foods are not 100% one macro—they often contain multiple macros.

Let’s start breaking down your meal plate.

You want the majority of your carbohydrates to come from vegetables. The average person needs at least 7 cups/servings of vegetables every day.

One cup of vegetables is roughly a fist full of salad. If you’re consuming more dense vegetables—broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, carrots—then you only need about 3.5 cups/servings per day.

You can also include a small number of berries in your diet, which count as carbohydrates.

Olives, hummus, and avocados are a combination of carbohydrates and fats.

Fats and proteins are often combined.

The fattiest proteins are the best to consume on a healthy keto diet. Avoid all low-fat proteins and do not trim the fat off of full-fat meats.

3-5 oz of protein per meal is ideal. For men, this is 1-2 pieces of protein that are about the size of the palm of your hand. For women, about 1 palm worth of protein. This would be similar to 2-4 eggs, one handful of nuts, 2 thumb-sized pieces of cheese, or 1-2 thumb-sized servings of nut butter.

In this video, we’re going to talk about how you can stop frying your brain with your cell phone.

EMFs are electromagnetic fields, which is a kind of invisible radiation that many electronic products emit.

Did you know that your phone emits microwaves? These are the same types of waves that you use to cook or reheat your food.

EMFs are not regulated by safety codes at this time. This means that there may be dangerous amounts of EMFs around you without you knowing about them.

Many people do not consider EMFs dangerous. Keep in mind that there was a period that people did not consider asbestos, sugar, or cigarettes dangerous either.

The higher voltage a power source is, the more EMFs it radiates.

If you’re sleeping at night and you have a light source and your electronic devices right next to you, you could be absorbing large amounts of EMFs throughout the night.

Interestingly, when you turn off the light switch or turn off a lamp, the EMFs do not go away. This is because there is still a live/hot wire with electricity that is generating EMFs.

The only way to eliminate these EMFs is to unplug the device from the wall.

When you’re using your cell phone, and you’re holding it up to your head, you are exposing your brain to a significant amount of EMFs.

You can limit your brain’s exposure to EMFs during phone calls by wearing headphones while making calls. I use the anti-radiation air tube headphones with a microphone.

If you would like to check for EMFs in your home, check out the TriField EMF meter model TF2—this is what I use. This device is simple and accurate.

Can’t shut your brain off when trying to sleep? Try calcium.

If you have a hard time shutting your brain off when trying to go to sleep at night, you may want to try taking calcium. Calcium can even be great for kids and teenagers. Calcium could also potentially help with a fever or infections in children.

For kids, you may want to give them 50mg right before bed. Adults may want to take 100mg right before bed. I think calcium lactate is the best type of calcium to take. It’s non-dairy and absorbs well in the body.

A calcium deficiency could cause muscle cramps that keep you up at night and can cause you to have a racing mind. But, a vitamin B1 deficiency could also cause you to have a racing mind. Calcium is needed in the body to allow you to get into REM sleep and to make melatonin.

With that said, I don’t typically think a person should take calcium for a long period of time. Calcium can accumulate in the body. Because calcium doesn’t get eliminated from the body very easily, as a person gets older, they could have calcium build-up in their joints, arteries, eyes, kidneys, and other places as well.

Unless you have a need for calcium, you may not want to take it as a supplement. For the most part, you may want to get the calcium you need from food.
