Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 10 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm EST. USA Only.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the following theory: the reason that you’re not losing weight is that you’re not eating enough.

So the solution is to just eat more food, right?

This just doesn’t make any sense. How could adding more food cause you to lose calories?

What you do want to do to support healthy weight loss is to increase your nutrients. Vitamins, minerals, and other vital nutrients can help support a healthy body and promote weight loss.

The best way to lose weight is to cut out your carbohydrates and eat less frequently. This doesn’t mean you need to lower your calories—just avoid any calories from carbohydrates and eat less often.

What this does is decreases insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is the cause of a slow metabolism.

If you can’t seem to lose weight, this is a sign of insulin resistance. Chances are, you are eating way too many carbohydrates.

Keep in mind that lowering your calories is not a good idea either. Lowering your calories can deplete the body of nutrients and low down your metabolism further. Avoid low-calorie diets!

In summary, Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting are the best ways to lose weight and support a healthy body.

In this video, we’re going to talk about lard and coconut oil—which one has more saturated fat?

Coconut oil has 90% saturated fat, while lard has 40% saturated fat (50% monounsaturated).

The question is, why would you be concerned about saturated fat? For the last 5-6 decades, people have been afraid of saturated fat based on a lie. A scientist in the 50s omitted information from a study, which led to a false conclusion. This then started a campaign to get millions of people to stop consuming fat.

Recently, the new dietary guidelines finally changed their viewpoint on cholesterol and fats. It now says that increased cholesterol does not increase the risk of heart disease.

The problem with seed oils is that when you cook them, you create trans fats. When you reheat them, you also create more trans fats. Trans fats can cause some serious damage.

When you combine trans fats with heat and with carbohydrates or starches, you get another toxic chemical and other things that cause proteins to become very sticky. This can potentially lead to certain health problems.

It’s interesting that there are actually certain vegetables with virtually zero carbs. I’m talking about net carbs because fiber is a carb. But, fiber doesn’t affect blood sugars. These vegetables are high in phytonutrients and have all sorts of amazing properties. Of course, the lower the carb, the more keto-friendly it is too.

The only time that consuming vegetables may not be a good idea is if you had a serious gut inflammatory situation. But, for most people, I believe it’s good to consume foods that are as low on the carbohydrate scale as possible.

Vegetables with almost zero carbs (1 cup):
Broccoli:

Let’s talk about the health benefits of cacao and dark chocolate. Cacao is the raw bean that’s fermented and processed into chocolate. Cacao and dark chocolate are both loaded with phytonutrients (polyphenols and flavonols). They actually have higher amounts than blueberries or açaí berries.

There is a small amount of caffeine in cacao and dark chocolate, as well as a good amount of theobromine (a stimulant). So, if you have cacao or dark chocolate later in the day or before bed, it may keep you up.

I consume a little bit of chocolate on a regular basis, but I always consume chocolate that is organic and doesn’t contain sugar. A few brands I like are Lily’s Sweets and Choc Zero.

Cacao and dark chocolate are high in oxalates. So, if you’re at risk for kidney stones, you may not want to consume either one.

Potential health benefits of dark chocolate and cacao:
1. Decreased blood pressure
2. Increased HDL and decreased LDL (especially oxidized LDL)
3. Decreased risk of heart disease (decreased endothelial dysfunction)
4. Decreased cortisol and adrenaline
5. Decreased risk of certain cancers
6. Decreased insulin (may improve insulin resistance)
7. Decreased risk of strokes
8. Better mood and increased serotonin (it can act as an antidepressant)
9. Increased physical performance
10. Increased skin circulation, texture, hydration
11. Decreased metabolic syndrome

I found the worst diet advice in the world, and it was by someone who was ranking very high on Google.

Bad diet advice:
1. Eating frequently prevents overeating.
2. Plan ahead. Don’t skip meals or allow yourself to get hungry.
3. Eating every 2-3 hours maintains metabolism. The body will feel reassured and loved with a regular intake of calories. It will see no reason to store body fat.
4. Eat foods that are low energy density (fruit, veggies, whole grains, lean proteins) to feel full longer
5. Track calories
6. Join a community
7. You’ll have smarter thinking because the brain gets a regular flow of sugar

In this video, we’re going to talk about why diet soda can cause a fatty liver.

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener in most diet sodas that can cause many health problems.

The byproducts of aspartame in the body are phenylalanine, aspartic acid, and methanol. Methanol then turns into formaldehyde. Together, methanol and formaldehyde deplete your glutathione.

Glutathione is one of the primary antioxidants that protect your body. It protects the brain and liver and promotes detoxification.

The depletion of glutathione when drinking diet soda happens in your liver, red blood cells, and brain. In turn, many problems can happen, including:
• Increased liver enzymes ALT and AST
• Hyperglycemia
• Liver lesions
• Liver inflammation
• Liver necrosis
• Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Additionally, diet soda can alter your gut microbiome, which can lead to many other health issues on its own.

In summary, if you are drinking diet sodas with aspartame, make sure you switch to a healthier sweetener like stevia.

Today we’re going to talk about how to get rid of cravings. This is important because if you have cravings, you’re going to have a hard time sticking with keto.

A tiny group of cells in the hypothalamus control appetite and the feeling of being satisfied from foods. Information from your sight, smell, taste, and stomach goes to this center. Based on what’s happening, it will send signals down to the body, letting it know you’ve had enough food or when you should start eating.

Various hormones play a part in this. For example, leptin tells the brain it’s time to stop eating, and ghrelin tells the brain it’s time to start eating.

Other sensors regulate glucose, amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients. Based on how many nutrients you’re consuming, the information will go into the brain and tell the body what to crave to get certain nutrients.

However, when you crave certain nutrients, your body isn’t always going to crave what it actually needs, like kale, for example. Instead, it may crave things that don’t even have that nutrient in it.

Often, people crave carbs. One reason might be because they’re low in B vitamins. But, when people consume refined carbs, they’re getting empty calories. They’re also triggering insulin, and they won’t feel satisfied. Junk food can also give people an artificial good sensation that makes them crave these foods.

It’s a trap because refined carbs raise insulin and can cause insulin resistance. When you have insulin resistance, the body can’t absorb nutrients. Now, you’re going to want certain foods and never feel satisfied. This keeps the cravings there and keeps you hungry.

A few different things that can cause cravings:
• Insulin resistance
• Empty calories
• Low bile
• Consuming too many carbs
• Low blood sugar
• A lack of nutrient-dense foods
• Too many triggers in the environment
• Food enhancers (like MSG)

What are the most nutrient-dense foods? The answer is organ meats. Organ meats have 10-100x more concentrated nutrients than muscle meat.

Organ meats have more bioavailable nutrients, such as:
• Iron
• Zinc
• Selenium
• Vitamin A
• Vitamin D
• Vitamin B12
• Magnesium
• Vitamin B1
• Vitamin B2
• Alpha-lipoic acid
• Vitamin B6
• Phosphorus
• Choline
• CoQ10
• Vitamin K2

Plants lack certain nutrients, such as:
• Vitamin B12
• Vitamin D3
• DHA (omega-3 fatty acid)
• Vitamin A (the active form called retinol)

Plants also have phytates, which are anti-nutrients. They block certain nutrients, such as:
• Iron
• Calcium
• Magnesium
• Zinc

However, it’s easier to get certain nutrients from plants than meat. This is why you would want to combine meat with plants in your diet.

Nutrients that are easier to get from plants:
• Phytonutrients
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin E
• Vitamin K1
• Potassium
• Magnesium

If you don’t like to consume organ meats, you can get them as supplements. You can also get certain types of hamburger that have organ meats blended in.
