In this video, we’re going to talk about 13 reasons why your metabolism is slow. If you struggle with weight gain and can’t seem to lose weight, this video is for you.

Take a look:

1. Age – As you age, growth hormone lowers. Fasting and exercise (especially (HIIT) increase growth hormone.

2. Menopause – Menopause can cause high cortisol, which alters metabolism. Support your adrenal glands to fight high cortisol.

3. Pregnancy – Being pregnant causes high estrogen. Avoid dairy, flaxseed, soy, and other estrogenic foods.

4. Dieting – The longer you’ve been on a low-calorie diet, the worse your metabolism will be. Keto and intermittent fasting is the best remedy.

5. High-carb diets – High-carb diets cause insulin resistance

6. Chronic stress – Stress increases blood glucose levels, leading to poor metabolism.

7. Hypothyroidism – This is often an immune system problem rooted in the gut that affects metabolism.

8. Fatty liver – The liver helps regulate hormones that control your metabolism, such as growth hormone, insulin, cortisol, and estrogen. Choline, fasting, and keto can help a fatty liver.

Will eating too little damage your metabolism? Maybe you’re doing fasting, and when you do eat, you’re having a certain amount of calories that you feel isn’t enough. Will this slow down your metabolism? 

Many people are told to consume small frequent meals to keep the metabolism going. I do not believe this is true at all. 

If you’re doing a low-calorie diet, it depends on what’s happening with your insulin. What’s behind a slow metabolism or a stuck set point is high insulin. Insulin resistance is creating this problem. Insulin resistance is created by years of consuming refined carbohydrates or eating too frequently.

If you have insulin resistance, you have higher amounts of insulin. High insulin prevents weight loss. 

How to fix your metabolism:
• Do fasting 
• Keep your carbs low
• Keep your nutrients high 

If you’re on a low-calorie diet, but you’re consuming carbs, then you won’t be able to fix insulin resistance or boost your metabolism. 

If you’re consuming nutrient-dense meals, then you won’t damage your metabolism. 

You could do a low-calorie diet while still getting all of the nutrients you need and cutting out carbs, and it won’t affect the metabolism. 

Typically the way someone destroys their metabolism is by doing a series of diets that are high in carbs and low in nutrients.

I’ve done videos in the past on the topic of not seeing results after going off keto and then going back on keto. We’re going to talk about how metabolic flexibility vs. metabolic inflexibility relates to this topic. I’m also going to talk about the best to get metabolic flexibility.

Metabolic flexibility is your body’s capacity to adapt to different fuels. Very few people have metabolic flexibility. This makes switching from a high carb diet to a low carb diet challenging—and it takes time to adapt to keto. As you switch back and forth between high carb and low carb diets, your metabolism slows down.

What causes metabolic inflexibility?
• History of insulin elevation over time
• Yo-yo dieting
• Stress
• Pregnancy
• Poor sleep
• Over-training
• Inflammation

While a small number of people will be able to easily go back and forth between diets. However, for people who naturally struggle with metabolic inflexibility, like me, you will need to try a different approach. You will have to consistently keep insulin levels down, which means no cheat meals or snacks.

The best ways to get a consistent reduction of insulin are:
• Keto
• Intermittent fasting
• Exercise
• Nutrients

Gaining metabolic flexibility can take a lot of time. It can take years of healthy lifestyle choices to speed up your metabolism.

[Music] good morning everyone we’re back hello and we’re here to answer your questions it’s been a wonderful week sure you guys been having fun at home so lots been happening right a lot a lot of things happened you’ve seen people walking outside trying to enjoy a special time Yeah right that’s right family walks absolutely so what do we want to talk about today Karen whatever’s on your list prepared items to talk about to it there’s a couple things want to talk about of course you know you guys been hearing them some bad news so the media has been really good at giving you the bad news and I just thought we’d maybe flip it to give you there is some good news and actually Karen showed me some some really good documentation on some good news do you want to go through some of these points and you want me to do it sure okay so there is good news guys about this virus thing a couple things they’re shutting down the temporary hospitals in China that they put up to deal with this issue so because they’re having less cases I don’t I think recently they haven’t even had any new cases in the last couple days if I’m not mistaken but correct me if I’m wrong also in Korea South Korea I don’t know about North Korea but South Korea the trend is much much better things are getting improved actually becoming improved there’s even a new I guess it’s not it’s an old treatment that was used in the 40s I’m going to do a video on it chloroquine they use for malaria they’re using that and we used it in China used it in France South Korea with some other different medications and it looks very promising it and even the United States now just ordered a bunch of it and they’re starting to use it so I think that a really positive thing and I will do a video on that shortly but minimal relatively minimal side effects the other thing is like people are recovering in Maryland there were three cases they recovered to normal there was a hundred a lady that was 103 years old in China she’s a grandmother she fully recovered after six days so they also found in the Netherlands they found a and N and they discovered an antibody that can actually handle this problem that’s exciting so there’s a lot of great news happening and I think my prediction is it may be a month or so from from now it’s going to even be better so that’s very very exciting I do want to talk about what because I read the questions people want to know like what can they do to support the immune system and that I want to bring up just this one of my favorite books and it’s this one right here and it’s called the technology of war and I just want to mention this this is the book you maybe you’ve heard about the art of war that book that most people have this is the technology of war which is this guy back I don’t know how many years ago found that there is a lot of things that were lost in translation like alterations from the original text and so what he did is he learned Mandarin Chinese took him six years and basically created this masterpiece which is the kind of the exact duplication of the original text by sunsoo who wrote the art of war and he found even the name of it was altered the original name wasn’t even the art of war as the art it was the technology of war which is doesn’t leave for any type of interpretations of oil maybe can go this way or that way it’s a very specific technology and the reason I’m bringing that up is because it’s amazing book on on strategies in general and I thought it was a appropriate just to bring up because when you’re dealing with a virus you know it’s like an enemy you want to actually have a good strategy right you want to have something that works but one of the principles that sunsoo talks about is that you never want to attack an enemy from their strengths you want to attack from your weakness and this you have different things you have the strength of a virus what is the strength of the virus Steve what is the strength of a virus what is there okay yeah well let’s see it easily passes from person to person especially in this case good yeah right it the biggest strength is actually can as you have capacity to kill certain people like the elderly and people with pre-existing health conditions basically people with weak immune systems right so of course they also wheat viruses have a weakness and that would be they have a hard time even in penetrating people or dealing with you or actually causing problems with people that have a strong immune system so that is the weakness so then that gives us some really good strategy let’s just strengthen the immune system in the elderly and also people with pre-existing conditions if they could start eating better and things like that that would be important but anyway this is if you wanted an interesting book this is one I would recommend I even put a link down below I I don’t get any kickbacks or anything but one thing that’s cool about this book is that you just read one paragraph you almost have to take a walk because it’s so filled with wisdom and you just have to think about it’s not like you don’t want to read the whole thing for cover to cover it’s packed with great things that you can apply nowadays but it’s one of my favorite books but as far as what you can do for your immune system right I want to talk about that you want to start cutting out of course carbs fasting is very very important zinc is probably probably the most important thing you can do and I’ll be creating a video on that vitamin D is another one the other thing that I want to mention though that a lot of people aren’t talking about Steve is a stress stress actually activates cortisol and cortisol actually creates a door or a susceptibility your immune barrier so stress lowers your immune barrier and so when you’re constantly being stressed out by watching the news 24/7 that alone can actually create a situation so anyway the point is that you want to do everything you can to extract stress off your life take the nutrition that you need and bulletproof yourself that way and that’s all I want to say Steve it’ll be wonderful in there you and Karen are so sweet to me I live without stress [Laughter] don’t worry that way I have something to tell you after the show about that you know because you’ve been for coming the environment and stopping the hysteria with vital data thank you I’d love to go to the summit but my budget is a little bit limited since I started studying and reduced my work so I have a question about electrolytes actually two questions come the summer and the heat can I how many scoops of electrolytes can I take today okay and can i I know this may be gross for some people can I do enema four with electrolytes okay good so when you’re doing of course an enema if you lose fluid or you have diarrhea or even your vomiting yes you want to put those electrolytes in very very important or so you’re going to feel weakened the thing about my electrolytes it’s really good for the average person but let’s say for example you’re taking it during this summer when it’s hot and you’re sweating or you’re exercising either take that formula with some additional sea salt or take the new version I have coming out which is the sports drink which has a bit more sea minerals in it and it’s a perfect combination for people that are extra exercise people and people that are sweating so that would be my answer on that and yes you you can take one to two per day without any problem and I think you’ll benefit greatly from that yeah I hope answer that and I some doubt we want to visit Switzerland we’ve seen pictures it’s simply gorgeous we will check that out Sunday so thanks for your call all right Karen okay so we have some questions here well the obvious what are your biggest or best tips for someone with a virus or an illness okay so well the most important thing of course is before you start treating anything or I would get the basics in get your your diet corrected so like I’ll get these questions all the time where people go oh what should I take for this well are you doing keto and in a minute fasting that Oh No well then you need to put that in because you want to cut down your carbs that’s the most important thing also try to get as much nutrition as you can that being said for the immune system there’s three main nutrients are the most important vitamin C zinc and vitamin D there’s a lot of other ones too like selenium but those are the most important ones based on the research out there did that answer it okay is that good is that sufficient yes I mean obviously in addition to all the other precautions and just taking care of yourself and washing your hands not hanging out with people if you’re sick in other words don’t don’t sit in front of someone who’s sneezing your face that would be bad right yeah that’s right Karen okay good so there’s nothing like stay away from dairy or anything well there’s so many things you can do but I want to talk about the most important things because like you can not eat gluten well that’s not on the program dairy yes you might have some sensitivities to that but the most important thing is to honestly eat food that’s the nutrient dense stuff like what foods would have the most vitamin D of all the foods besides mushrooms I don’t know fish there you go and zinc would be the shellfish oysters oh and by the way anything that we say on the show this is not an effort to treat or diagnose Berg spends his entire life researching for the truth about health and breaking it down so that you can understand it but that is the disclaimer and we say this in every show and we’ll just keep saying it so consult with your medical doctor on any illness or injury whatsoever do you have anything else to say about that I do you’re talking about food it was interesting last week I went to the grocery store to buy not the next year’s worth of food just our normal list and I found something interesting and that is that there was no meat there was no toilet paper there was no milk there were no paper towels was there canned goods I don’t know cuz I didn’t shop for canned goods but I’ll tell you what there was no shortage of fresh vegetables no hay that leave more for a fact packed packed out beautifully stocked greens so that is a reflection of the situation and you know what we should be buying and eating really are fresh vegetables tons and tons of fresh vegetables and live things of course you need to have some protein in your diet but just an observation I made yeah yeah that’s right it’s for your immune system you want to have like a lot of foods that are raw and nutrient-dense I mean that’s the bottom line right there I agree a hundred percent okay and Esther from Oklahoma she is on the line how are you Esther very good can you you yeah perfectly fine okay I have a couple of questions for you six months ago and I did my blood test my cholesterol level was 239 and three days ago my cholesterol level is 250 and my calculated listen was 191 my ratio lvl so as to be L was 3.6 should i weary or now my second question is and this will be the last one when I talked to you last time I mentioned to you about my c-reactive protein in his weight still high and I asked to do about carnivores you said fight for a short time so I was going to try it for a month now I started reading online in Sicily octane don’t last more than 24 hours and I discussed 42 hours the other thing is don’t take any plant-based things except magnesium potassium and sodium which is your electronic but I have been taking forever women plant-based multi vitamin and private with probiotics so will that keep me out of carnivore I don’t all right thank you for your question let me just answer the first question and the answer would be no now you don’t have to worry there’s a really good test that you can get from your doctor that is more of an in-depth test on the LDL it measures the different patterns and the particle sizes of the LDL I would get that test because that will actually give you the data you want you’re going to find that your large buoyant LDL is going to be plentiful and your small dense LDL will be with the normal ranges so that will give you the true story I think really anyone who’s concern honestly just needs to watch all my videos on cholesterol because that’ll you need the data because you don’t want to rely even on my data you wanted to study yourself so you actually have it understand it then I try to make the videos understandable the next question is your c-reactive protein is a bit high so I would look for things that you’re eating that could be you’re allergic to one thing Karen mentioned is dairy you could be allergic to either the protein in dairy casein or it could be that on the milk sugar could be creating some reaction could be causing some type of inflammation when you’re searching out for data on fasting on the internet you’re gonna get every single possible piece of information it’s gonna conflict so you said I found this thing on the internet that said this do I like honestly that’s that’s the part of the confusion is that you just have to pick one source and follow them because you’re gonna get conflicting data someone said you shouldn’t fast for longer than this I mean it’s just like okay what’s that based on you’re going to get its like random com so I honestly I don’t spend a lot of time just getting general information so that being said I hope that answer the question all right Karen let’s get some read this out loud it’s just a person’s testimony yeah go ahead yeah of course well there’s not a name here so I can’t do a shout-out to you on YouTube but says I tested positive for Kovan 19 and over fifty years old with asthma I fought it off in three days on keto NIF that’s fantastic and the thing is like um ninety seven point seven percent of people to get this do you fight it off yeah and we do have to have perspective with it like dr. Berg said it is unhealthy people it’s immune system weakness that struggled just like the annual flu and you can google this but over sixty thousand people a year in the United States died from the annual flu and flu rated related symptoms it’s over three hundred thousand people worldwide every single year from the flu it’s a sickness that attacks bodies and sickness will compromise people with a weak immune system so it’s not to minimize any situation in any way but it is to give perspective that the most important thing now in addition to handling the current situation is to build a strong immune system and that’s the message that’s been coming from this channel for a long long time and we just hope that new we get new ears now because a lot of you guys already you’re you’re learning and you’re doing what you need to do but we hope that your friends and family now have a new interest in listening to that and getting motivated to make some changes this new this new application of an old drug is called chloroquine I’ll be doing a video on it and different countries are using it now the United States is going to start to use it and what’s interesting about this what’s the generic name for well it’s I don’t know that generic name for it I think this is the generic name for it but it’s for malaria I thought was quite No so there’s let me just tell you about what this actually does because it’s mainly for a parasite that a mosquito is carrying around for malaria so what how does it deal with a virus and that’s what that’s where it gets really interesting what it does is they found first of all that zinc can stop the copy machine from many different viruses in mice and even humans but the studies are anecdotal they’re not like I mean not the studies that just with humans they’re still doing the hardcore studies right now but they’re getting some results and they basically zinc is the thing that stops the copy machine okay so it just shuts that thing right down so that virus cannot reproduce anymore here’s the problem zinc is an ion which means it is a hard time penetrating the cell wall which is a fat layer so double fat layer and so this drug chloroquine is called Ionis it’s called a what is it called in okay I don’t I don’t know your mouth anyway I don’t actually remember the name but this is what it does it has a function of carrying that mineral across the barrier into the cell so that’s how it works it drives the zinc right in the cell so this virus can stop it’s so simple now even the FDA now is doing some research or actually working with some people that are doing research on using someone’s own plasma that where it was infected that recovered has a treatment I mean like that makes total sense as well to me so this is all good news and I think there’s enough bad news out there that we need to switch it a little bit and offset this bad news for a while and that’s all I’m saying Karen and I’m I’ll zip it okay Natalie from Bowie Maryland as in the house hi Natalie hi dr. Berg thank you for taking my call sure um I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and so I just immediately went to all your videos and um I saw that you were recommending selenium zinc and cod liver oil and the vitamin D I have the cod liver oil I have the vitamin D I’m wondering if yours you know trace minerals advanced has enough of the selenium and to think to use that or do I need to take those additionally separately got it good question and I just want to make a disclaimer any my products are they do not cure anything that’s the same so you can get zinc from anywhere I do have a part that has extra zinc and has extra selenium and it’s the advanced trace minerals I think two of those a day would give you sufficient amounts basically but it has I spiked it with some additional trace minerals in addition to the blend of trace minerals and the reason I did it because I just the challenge is that when you entertain you any time you take one specific trace mineral and not the other ones you can you can create an imbalance like zinc works with copper and so yeah so I would just just take two a day if I were you thanks Natalie and let’s see we have Michelle from Houston Texas you had a question go ahead Michelle good morning dr. Bergin Lewisburg thank you for the work that you do I started Quito and in a minute fasting on March first and I have regressed Jews and the electrolyte powder nutritional yeast and that just a formula also on March first I stopped taking the omeprazole that I’ve been taking for forever and doing well feeling well since March first except because I’m not taking that reflux medication I’m having discomfort and I’m down to one meal a day just because I don’t want to deal with the discomfort my question is what are your thoughts on ways to mitigate that while my system is healing and I do understand and I’m trying to not have fear about it but I do understand and my body is just trying to adjust and it’s going to take some time yeah I think I’m one of the best things you can do for what you have is done you want to make sure that you have foods that naturally have probiotics like sauerkraut fermented vegetables are wonderful because that gives you the prebiotic and in the probiotic together kill two birds with one stone so it feeds the microbes and it gives you the also I will give you a vitamin C as well the other thing that you can do cabbage is probably one of the got about that cabbage is like hands down the easiest seem to digest when you have any type of GERD or acid reflux it just seems to digest there’s a factor in cabbage it’s called the you factor of the cut used to call it vitamin u and it’s just good for ulcers in the small intestine ulcers in the stomach irritation acid it just it’s a good thing to digest coleslaw or just or just cabbage in your salad there’s a lot of other things you like licorice is good for that but don’t start doing like baking soda anything like that and then just give it some time and these things do take a bit of time and then you’ll find over time that will actually get better I the reason this is because of way if you if I set you up for this idea like oh it’s going to be two days now no it’s going to be time ketogenic keto diet can it influence the fiber it in any way yeah it if you do in a minute fasting and keto sometimes you’re gonna find that your thyroid hormones go down specifically t3 and you might be concerned but you have to realize that ketones are much more efficient fuel than glucose which means your body’s going to work more efficiently your metabolism is going to work better the need for thyroid hormone will go down the way they diagnose a hypothyroid case is not from t3 they look at the hormone from the pituitary down to the thyroid it’s called the thyroid stimulating hormone and that that always stays in a normal range so unless that goes down you really don’t have anything to worry about it just keep going same thing with like blood sugars as your body adapts to ketones your blood sugars go down like sometimes even as low as 60 even lower and you’re thinking oh my gosh I have hypoglycemia but do you feel bad no I feel great well guess what you don’t you’re not running in sugar anymore so you don’t need that amount of sugar you’re running a ketone so don’t worry about it don’t worry about it Karen any other questions over there yes yeah so Lisa on Facebook she wants to know what’s the best way to recover or replace healthy bacteria if you do something that results in a clean-out of your bacteria like you know you want to you can get it from both an external source as a product or you can get it from the food like sauerkraut fermented vegetables are good but not just necessarily like when something’s pickle doesn’t mean it has all the friendly bacteria but sauerkraut usually does some kefir maybe will help you if you take probiotics of course I’m not biased but I would take mine but also over time it’s good to life rotate your your friendly bacteria to different different types of strains but it helps to create diverse diversity and diversify things interesting and you mentioned sauerkraut and I when I was at the grocery store where there was no meat and toilet paper but tons of vegetables I bought a bunch of sauerkraut that’s all that they have different you know blends of sauerkraut in the vegetable section and why did I buy a lot of sauerkraut because of vitamin C right and how much vitamin C the sauerkraut have some tests showed 700 and per cup of naturally occurring vitamin C yeah not just ascorbic acid right which is just one to chloride or outside a vinegar the other thing is that you could be consuming like some sugar alcohols in there that create gas so watch out for that and some other foods that you might be allergic getting a loss of muscle especially after menopause so now it looks like fat that there’s less muscle there’s it’s just a loose tissue the the thing the reason why that is is relates to I guess the next topic I was going to mention is that during menopause your cortisol goes up that’s the stress hormone and cortisol / stress same thing will make you fat why because cortisol raises host your blood sugars there’s been diabetics so many times that have told me like wow I go through stress and I can just see my blood Sugar’s go straight up like that’s fascinating so why because the liver dumps sugar number one when you’re under stress also your body is making more sugar and your body is now converting protein into sugar excellent so you’re gonna get fat through that so people are talking about carbs carbs carbs right well guess what stress also can make you fat and and also destroy your muscles but other than that it’s actually totally fine it won’t even affect you but thanks is that okay well this’ll make me feel a rather will keep me healthier for ward off certain issues later is that when you’re jacked up on sugar as I have been for a long period in my life and now come that idea I’m an older guy and I know I have a finite amount of time left but while I live it in misery I’m really feeling good on a day-by-day basis by eating well you know regardless of what I might strength of the immune system has a huge role in that so wouldn’t we all like to handle our day and the news of the day or whatever is going on much more easily I mean the real question is the test to know how your adrenals are functioning is and are you able to tolerate about I don’t know thirteen or fourteen young children in a room for over eight hours at a daycare center and juggle a whole bunch of other stresses how can you handle that can you handle slow drivers for more than an hour patiently as you drive around town that’s the real test and if you can you passed if you can’t you need some some serious help there you go all right so let’s go to Chris from Illinois who’s been waiting patiently hi Chris thanks for taking my call sure my big concern is my blood sugar is staying high this last night it was 172 but this morning was 198 okay i i’ve been diabetic for over 15 years i’ve been on at least nine different pills last august i started on insulin as soon as i started on insulin i started gaining weight and that’s what really worried me and make me start looking around so December 26 2019 I started intermittent fasting I started with a five-day fast and I also started a keto diet so right now my schedule is fasting Saturday Sunday Tuesday and Thursday and I eat Monday Wednesday and Friday and I generally break my fast with a couple hard-boiled eggs and bacon and then a large salad with everything in it but I guess I’ve been diabetic for so long it’s gonna take some time for my system to straighten out but what really worries me is the high blood sugar I’m afraid I’m going to have some kind of damage if I keep having such high blood sugar readings this is a really good question I have one question for you really quick I want to just know I want to ask a very simple question just to see how much you know about insulin what what tends to what’s the things that trigger insulin stress okay sugar yep eat eating good you’ve been watching good you you passed that but this is the thing that I think that you may want to tweak it’s your pattern of fasting you’re doing it you’re doing a pattern that’s a very common a lot of people do this but I would do more of a consistent intermittent fasting everyday versus the way you’re doing it where you’re eating like three days a week and then not eating the other days this way you could fast for a longer period of time like I don’t know on the days that you’re eating how many how many meals are you eating on the days that you’re eating well I sort of been changing that a little because with this corner virus you know my schedule has changed cuz everything’s closed down right normally I normally broke my fast around ten o’clock and then would eat a little bit at 6:00 but on the days that you’re eating on the days that you’re eating how many meals a day are you eating – okay so what I would do I would change your pattern I would eat one meal a day consistently through the whole week and then reevaluate after two weeks how you’re doing make sure that your watch my video on other things you can do to support insulin resistance because that’s the videos that you should study on my want unless there’s some pharmacologic reason that someone decides you need that in a treatment of something but if you’re looking for a whole food vitamin C that’s what we recommend its dr. [Music] good morning everyone we’re back and we have where’s Karen around here now just kidding that she’s not here today she is will be here next week so I’m here to answer all of your questions on social media as well as the phones the numbers should be on the screen down below and hopefully this will work just fine I do want to get right into it if there’s anything that I say that you know that gives you a tip or anything like that just realize I’m not trying to diagnose you or replace your medical care check with your doctor before taking any of this information it’s just purely for your own research on that note Esther’s been waiting patiently I think she’s called before are you there from Oklahoma yes hi good morning 42 hours tapping okay I eat every other day I do oh man salad and then two hours later with my babies thank you electrolytes minerals and other supplements dr. Burke I feel nauseous that’s one question the other one is have high C reactive protein inflammation osteoarthritis you take carnival diet with high how much protein is good my question is the last question can you clarify the last question I have hi okay hi Stevie 1300 arthritis osteoarthritis and made about carnival diets the protein in carnival will help in Flemish okay well how much protein is good it’s not likely okay so good question the first question during a 48 hour faster getting nauseousness now that usually relates to the gallbladder what happens when you’re not eating is you have the gallbladder concentrating the bile sometimes very concentrated up to 20 times but just realize that you don’t to be concerned about gall stones because if you have more bile more concentrated bile you’ll have less stones because that’s the truth that’s usually the treatment for bile stones is to take more bile salts or that’s the treatment for gall stones by the way so I wouldn’t worry about that I think what you should do there’s a video it’s called liver and gall bladder flushing I’m not mistaken and I have it’s a video that actually shows you how to manually kind of massage the the different organs you know you exercise your muscles but people don’t actually think they can actually do anything for the gall bladder or other you know like the intestines and just massage the area so underneath the right ribcage if you massage that area I have this in the video what you can do is you can help to facilitate more flow and drainage and that usually should help you with that that nauseousness you can also take various supplements to help increase the flow of bile like radishes for example and that will also decrease that symptom as well now your you have high C reactive protein that’s an inflammatory marker if you’re doing fasting and the inflammation is still there that’s very weird you should go away you may want to take a lot more vitamin D at probably about 20,000 IU’s at least make sure you take the k2 with it you wouldn’t hurt to try the carnivore diet because that really addresses a lot of inflammatory conditions in the and the in the in the gut and the small and large intestine that’s really good for SIBO and irritable bowel syndrome and even autoimmune because sometimes people are sensitive to fiber vegetables and then that can stir up a hornet’s nest so you can try it out and see if you feel better for a few months and then go back to vegetables at a nice slower pace personally I I do very well on the common of meat and vegetable sometimes people concern about counting vegetables because they you know they’re high in carb but I’m gonna release the video this week to show you the majorities vegetables have less than one gram of carb per cup and a lot of them only have like two or three grams of carbs you’re allowed 20 to 50 grams so you really don’t have to worry about that but there out of all the vegetables there’s a couple and I’m not talking about potato or anything like that I’m not I’m not going to be in cover corn because we’re not even gonna consider that out of all the vegetables believe it or not artichokes and peas have the have the majority of or they have the highest concentration of carbs so but still even if you have those you still might be within the normal range so I wouldn’t necessarily have to cut that out as well so let’s go right to Helen she’s been waiting patiently from Reno are you there Helen from Nevada yes I am great what’s your what’s your question I’ve been recently diagnosed with primary biliary they used to call it cirrhosis now they call it basically inflammation by own leaking into my liver so I want to know nutritionally how to handle that yeah are you on keto or in a minute fasting I’m on both I do um 20 hours fasting and 4 hours eating sometimes sick and you know yes 100% okay great note so you want to facilitate more support for the gallbladder of course in the liver there’s there’s a couple things that you need to know about nutrition-wise for about cirrhosis which is fibrosis which is comes from inflammatory mark high inflammation out of all the nutrients vitamin E and selenium as a mineral in together is very good for the inflammatory markers as well as preventing cirrhosis of the liver so if you get in a real complete vitamin E complex with both all the decoff roles and the tocotrienols and took some selenium you know to take much and take that every day that will actually help you I would also consume radishes and a good amount of vegetable cruciferous just to keep that gallbladder going and I think that’s that would be the best thing also realize that the more fasting you do the more you’re going to get a notification if you’re doing periodic prolonged fasting the top adji will clean up some of that scar tissue that’s developing but vitamin E for the liver is amazing I’m going to release the video on vitamin E that I’m going to actually do today which has to do with the most important function of vitamin E so stay tuned for that good good questions and I have a ton of questions coming in let me see if I could take one here my husband has chronic this is from Felicia Bates my husband has chronic kidney disease stage 3 and he’s a diabetic his dietician said keto and I F is not good blah blah blah okay what should you well I would check with the the medical doctor for this question if if stage 3 you he may or may not be okay approved for doing foods high in potassium sometimes the doc will say you know what go ahead and do it because it really is the stage 4 or 5 where you can’t you have to be careful of phosphorus and certain nutrients like potassium so you want to check what nutrients he has to make sure that he doesn’t have too many but generally speaking potassium is protective to the kidney in a healthy kidney but you want to check with the doc as far as a diet goes as long as you avoid those nutrients that are a problem keto especially in a minute fasting – together it would be very beneficial lowering at the car for the kidney because what do you want to do do a high carb diet for the kidney high carbohydrates are what got the kidney in the trouble in the first place so like take a look at one of the major organs that’s affected from a diabetic is the kidney kidney destruction so why would anyone want you to want you to be on a high carb diet it doesn’t make sense low carb is what you want to do but then just check with the nutrients because that could be an issue all right there doc since were on with low carb Alba Yeah right is low carb ok with ok when he’s in hypothyroidism yeah hypothyroidism is a low thyroid the most hypothyroid cases are have Hashimoto’s it’s an autoimmune condition and with that condition you get on keto and if’ your hormones especially with the t3 we’ll go down a little bit and you might be concerned about that like wait a second I thought that I thought it was supposed to be helpful but if you actually have your thyroid stimulating hormone measured which is how they diagnose hypothyroidism that will be fine but because you’re actually altering your diet in a way that doesn’t require is much like you’re actually oxidizing fat more you’re using more efficient pathways your the need for thyroid hormones are going to be a little less so as long as you’re getting the nutrients from the diet when you eat I think doing a healthy keto plan and intermittent fasting is is pure dynamite to help you and it’s not going to be a problem at all in fact actually especially if 90% of all hypothyroid cases are autoimmune why wouldn’t you want to do in a minute fasting because in a minute fasting reduces inflammation and that should help any autoimmune case does that sound good it certainly does I guess and I am the advocate for Facebook today with Karen gone so I haven’t forgotten about you I’m not nearly as efficient as her but I’m gonna do my best so okay to that in Ryan on Facebook if I only do I have can i still take your electrolyte powder I would think so if you only do iron no if you only do intermittent fasting oh and you still take your electrolyte powder yeah yeah there’s no count of barely any calories just minerals you can take that on empty stomach when you’re fasting not a problem I will say there has been some questions when is when are we gonna have the trace minerals in we have it in right now okay so go to the site you can check it out this is trace minerals it’s in a capsule right now and it’s enhanced so if you this is what you’ve been waiting for it’s in I’m taking it’s awesome it’s the same formula as before however I actually spiked see if I can find it zeolite yeah zeolite is a let’s type of mineral compound that is from volcanic ash and it’s a really good it’s called an ion exchanger so it allows ions to collect or connect to it like a magnet and it can help pull out toxins and heavy metals country-and-western just want to see if Steve was awake they’re different different toxic elements see when you do a detox whether you’re doing it from some herbal thing or trying to kill off something in your body if you don’t take something like that or bentonite clay or charcoal activated charcoal you end up getting sick because the die off from the byproducts from the the bacteria or yeast or fungus just like wipe you out it creates an immune reaction so something like this it’s called zeolite or other things like bentonite clay will help to absorb and detoxify these poisons without you feeling bad all right let’s go to I think it’s uh Lucy from Texas or Luke hi one of the two Lucy Lucy hi hi how are you thank you for taking my call absolutely I am 44 I have no never have have had a abnormal TSH laughs at least not yet and then that’s long ago I was also diagnosed with fiber and my uterus so I chose order your liver package yesterday and electrolytes and I just wanted to know if there’s anything else that you recommend I’m also having red eyes I’ve been on keto for a month you’re having red eyes yes like a little veins and and the white part of my eyes are just very red like okay okay a very good question fair enough so what I would recommend you’re on the right thing to support the liver especially for the eyes and the blood vessels it could be a little bit of a blood sugar issue that you’re transitioning now that you’re on keto you may want to just just adjust your fasting just to make sure that you’re not going too far that your blood Sugar’s dropped because I know blood sugar issues can create the irritation with the eye I don’t know if that’s it maybe not but something to consider but here’s the thing iodine from C seek help would be really really beneficial the icelandic seek help because what that does is it helps to regulate excessive amounts of estrogen which then prevent things like fibrocystic breast things that like cysts on the ovaries fibroids that can develop because those are like estrogen specific as well as assists in the thyroid so now I’m not saying that that’s going to cure you at all I’m just saying that you should look in the area of iodine and regulation of estrogen that’s that’s very important you probably want to also take vitamin b1 and that is actually a nutritional yeast that would be also very beneficial for you but I think you may have a little bit of estrogen dominance so do some research on that but I think you’re gonna be on the right track when you get that kit and just apply what I have in my book to a tee okay all right so now let’s see here doc I can throw one in from Facebook yeah Laura balm wants to know does an Altoid count put you out of a fast is there enough sugar in it to put you out of keto ketosis well the fact that it has sugar in it you should probably not take it there’s so many other things you can take that don’t have sugar I think it will affect you to some degree I don’t know how long maybe a very short period of time but I don’t know I would probably find something else that didn’t have sugar okay now there’s a question I want to run through these because there’s so many questions okay someone asked asked I have how do you know if you have low stomach acid well the biggest indication for that is indigestion so if you’re eating something and you feel like it’s not digesting or you have a hard time digesting protein let’s say for example you sit down and you have a texas-style steak 20 ounces and you can’t digest that and being very sarcastic but if you can’t digest protein or you don’t like you just can’t deal well with the red meat then you probably need more hydrochloric acid alright next question is I’m gonna support my hair but I have Gulf stones what should I do about that well the minerals that are really needed especially the trace minerals for supporting the hair especially if you’re doing ketosis need good strong stomach acid okay that’s number one but also you do need the fact that you have gall stones just tells me that you need more bile salts and the bile also is involved in the absorption of certain minerals as well especially the fat soluble actually vitamins this is the fat soluble vitamins vitamin A D and K so those are also very essential for hair especially if you’re getting hair loss because let’s say for example you’re having oxidative stress and in the scalp and you get excess of hydrogen peroxide whatever a lot of free radicals another thing called Ross and then you need vitamin E for that because vitamin E is really important for the hair well you don’t have the bile to absorb it so that could be why you have the problem the first place alright another question is how do I manage medications supplements on in a minute fasting well you know what just take them if you need to take your medication just take them when you need to take them if you need to take them with food then you’re gonna have to wait to your meal as far as supplements go III always recommend not worrying about taking supplements they’re not going to kick you out of ketosis they will enhance ketosis unless they have sugar or protein as in bone broth or collagen or branched chain amino acid you want to avoid those alright then another question a question about IBS IBS that can create a lot of malabsorption problems so the best thing I would recommend is something like chlorophyll or wheatgrass juice powder take that in empty stomach do fasting make sure you’re not consuming any type of grains at all and you may actually been affirmed carnivore for at least a month or two if you if it’s really severe especially if you have like tons of allergies and no matter what you eat you’re always bloated and you may have what’s called SIBO small intestinal bacterial overgrowth alright so the last question is I can’t actually make out my handwriting so I’m gonna have to go to Robin she’s been she’s a New Mexico are you there Robin you had a question yes I am thank you so much my question is first of all I’ve been on keto for about a year I’ve lost 200 pounds down to 150 Wow I do intermittent fasting I’m at 150 and I’ve been here for my goal 130 pound okay hey I had a question are you doing the type of keto you’re doing are you doing like like just a hundred percent or were you doing sorta keto sometimes now I’m pretty much doing keto all the time okay good how long are you fasting for well let’s see I usually don’t eat till about 2:00 okay yeah about 1:00 or 2:00 and I usually have my my last meal at about 7:00 got it and do you have a history of doing a lot of diets oh yeah okay and what’s your age again I’m 48 okay and you have the other question relates to do you have a history of eating a lot of refined sugars or grains yes okay okay all right so this is the perfect good question to bring this up we’re dealing with this is a common thing Robin and when you have someone that’s either pre menopausal menopausal now you have the history of the dieting which by the way slows your metabolism and then you have a history of eating on the carbs which creates instant resistance and now we’re left with the very slow metabolism so I’m glad that you’re doing it exactly by the book because if you were doing sorta keto that wouldn’t work I think with you this is going to be the next action to do would be to one meal a day one mill a day because what we’re trying to do is we’re trying to get your body to convert to burn your own fat which is one of the healthiest things you can do tap in your own fat to do that we have to bring the carbs down well keto is low carb but intermittent fasting is no carb so you can really bring your your insulin down and start speeding up your metabolism to force your body to actually live off your own fat so I would just do one meal a day I think that should handle it and then you can always add some other things to to speed it up you can actually get more sleep try to cut down stress at exercise you know Steven practice I had a lady who came in and I’m not kidding she was exercising 6 hours a day and she lost no weight loss so I have the advantage of have been in practice for 29 years and had a chance to work with a lot of different types of cases that you would normally see if you were just you know not in working with people because sometimes you have people that are like even keto experts but they’ve never actually had a wide range of clients – you know like I didn’t accept insurance so at a cash practice so if you didn’t get results people wouldn’t come back so it kept increasing the bar to the point where I had to perform a miracle like really quick or people wouldn’t come back so I would have to try different things be very creative and come up with different things and I would get just when you got to figure it out you’d hit someone else come in the doing keto perfectly and they’re still not losing light one lady was doing one meal a day no weight loss no miletti’s six hours exercise a day and still no weight loss so what do you do in those situations right so what I found is you you have to sometimes do in a minute fasting longer and longer and longer so one meal every other day for some of these people and then start flipping things around well I’m gonna say I’ve got a client for you because OSA is her problem is losing too much weight she’s asking can I only do i F without keto I’m all ready to slam and it seems that keto makes people slim so there’s a happy customer yeah this is a problem this whole thin thing is like it’s really a problem for some people I battle it every day I know you do I would recommend do keto but just do three meals no snacks do keto three meals no snack snacks if you want to actually put some seriously bad on a person really quick what you do Steve is you have them do three meals you have them do empty carbo and empty nutrition like empty carbohydrates and a lot of them and then you add additional snacks between breakfast and lunch an afternoon snack so you’re always eating every three hours and definitely right before bed and then you do the Big Apple’s do the chips do nuts just keep raising maybe a beer some wine at night and then take a nap after each meal stick with it folks you’ll get there yeah and you’ll you’ll actually keep your weight on all right good so Veronica from Iowa had a question about shingles are you there yes I am and nobody likes shingles I know I not vaccinate and watch but but and I don’t have any children you go breathe the air that have chickenpox you know so that I can my body can recognize the virus what you we do about this how do you people in my situation handle what do we do to not give them is there way to not get them well once once you have it you have it there’s a couple things you can do I try to also search out my video on this because I have some more data but I’m gonna give you the quick answer these viruses are very fascinating little buggers they they’re not alive but they’re not dead so what is it what do I mean by that they basically leech off energy from your own cells so they can invade your cells when you’re stressed when you’re nutritionally deficient and you get older so they come out of remission and they create an immune reaction so your own immune system is really creating the problem because it senses this darn bar is is coming out of remission so but that being said there is some interesting data about actually getting rid of viruses and that has to do with the tofu Jie doing periodic prolonged fasting like let’s say every week you do it a fasting for two or three days and you’re really forcing your body to clean out this all these old pathogens yeast fungus mold viruses to clean that out that’s one way that’s going to strengthen your immune system zinc vitamin D and vitamin C are the best things to take to to kind of keep your immune system strong keep the cellular membranes strong to keep the this shingle this virus in at bay that’s what you can do and watch my video on that I have a couple of other additional things you can do so it’s really about getting your immune system strong and definitely keeping up the sugars which I think you’re already doing but stress is a factor you’re gonna have to find every find the source of that stress and really just do what you can to avoid it so Steve I’m you know there’s a really really really really really valuable tool that I want to I want to tell you and others that you can use when solving your health problems would you like to know it absolutely okay good would everyone like to know that let’s see no no no one’s actually saying yes just me okay just you so I’ll just tell you this is so simple it’s so powerful yet in the mental compression they’re not really emphasizing this as the superior thing when you evaluate someone I know you’re probably going to get to the point anytime you have a plateau or a sudden weight gain or you’re trying to solve a health problem that’s you have a bloating whatever you know you want to find out what occurred just before this symptoms started like weight gain for example when did you start gaining weight and we have a stubborn metabolism right when I got pregnant okay thank you that gives me data I mean how many times have I in practice had someone say well I have this serious digestive problem if I start treating them and or or giving them recommendations without first finding out when did it start what happened just before it it’s disastrous and you’d be shocked to find out what you hear when you say that okay when did it start last Tuesday what did you eat boom Doritos how much a bag this big okay thank you now we’re getting somewhere I mean I’ve had people who had heart symptoms chest pains so bad caused him to go to the doctor’s office and Hospital in spate pay $40,000 and they didn’t find anything but they failed to ask when did it start what did you eat just before that what occurred and you find out oh I’ve been in a split or I’ve never eat this and I eat this and then you start realizing this is coming from the digestive system not the heart it’s being referred I mean this happens so often very very simple but just if you have a health problem isolate when it started and what occurred just before this is called like a coinciding a certain thing with a certain thing it and I think what happens a lot of times is even though it’s obvious it’s logical sometimes the doctors will say oh no that probably doesn’t have anything to do with it I mean it’s the only thing that’s the only big change it occurred so anyway that’s just an extra tip no charge Steve absolutely luckily you know most of us is not much of a mystery I’m in denial many times most of my stuff are you know preceded by some nonsensical behavior on my part and I can’t put my finger on though I don’t I do know that there are people that just it’s a mystery and they don’t know what’s happened but for most of us I’ve made at least as it relates to eating it’s pretty obvious yes it is pretty obvious all right so I’m gonna go to Tom Thomson Boston get a question about Quito are you there Tom yes I am thank you for taking my call absolutely so I’ve been doing Quito for a year and a half and lost 15 pounds and feel great and just went to my doctor for my annual checkup and so my total cholesterol was through the roof 438 okay but my remnant cholesterol I watched your video on that is mine so it’s interesting the previous one my cholesterol when I was doing carb was 311 but the remnant cholesterol was 35 so what do you make of all that well what’s happening is the remnant cholesterol is the stuff lingering around hanging out for no reason you’re well within the normal range so cholesterol is something your body makes most of the cholesterol in your body is made by the body also as you lose weight the cholesterol has to come out of the fat cells some of it and come out to the body but cholesterol is an exchange thing so you have HDL which is the cholesterol coming from the cell back up to the liver and then you have the LDL coming from the liver to the cell so we have this exchange so what’s happening you’re having just large amounts of cholesterol but it’s being exchanged in your body for some reason it could be it could be stress could be your body’s trying to build something up it could be your by starting the needs more for repair in some aspects it could be you’re just using a lot of that fat for energy and that’s kind of just circling out to the body I would get a specialized test that measures the small dense type of LDL versus the large buoyant LDL and that would be like pattern a pattern B and that would really give you the exact day that you would need and then you could learn more about that from the video that I did but yeah so that’s interesting your remnant I mean it tells me that you’re just getting more more exchange with cholesterol and so okay yeah I think you’re really good to go on that one okay one other question along with that I also had my vitamin D level checked and it was at 121 the range on my report says 30 to 60 so doctors said stop taking it and yours was how much when 121 okay you know there’s some there’s a lot of conflicting data I have to do a video on this because the ranges of normal vitamin D are literally ridiculously it’s way too low okay and I don’t know how they’re basting enough but honestly uh I would well maybe maybe I should add this you know I had my blood test done in the afternoon that morning you know I didn’t have lunch I just had a bulletproof coffee in my vitamin D would that yes would that right yes yes yes yeah if you take vitamin D before you get in for a test that could explain the whole thing yeah you want to kind of not take it like 24 hours because all sorts of thoughts I have a vitamin but still it’ll be in your blood for a little bit and that’s probably what happened okay great yeah well thank you for all that you do I’ve been really enjoying doing keto and in the minute that’s been great you’re welcome thanks town appreciate it all right okay good so someone had a question from Facebook are you answering questions on Facebook yes I am as I can get to it let me take a question here all right this is from blue skies Joe k2 causes blood to clot okay so vitamin K is a family of vitamins and k1 is really the clotting factor however if you have history of excessive clotting or you have a stroke or heart problem and you’re on coumadin the doctors are not going to probably want you to take any k2 at all which is fine you have a couple choices you can take another form of well check with your doctor but there’s other forms of medication that that don’t restrict the vitamin k1 they work in different ways so that might be an option the other thing too is that when you eat on the ketogenic diet and I created a video on this you want to consume high levels of vegetables but without the vitamin K you just need to know what they are the squash in fact I would just go to my youtube video and just kind of take notes on that and throw on that program but there’s conflicting information vitamin k2 does not primarily work on the clouding factor like k1 so it’s mainly a transportation of calcium so it deals with certain activation of certain proteins and to mobilize calcium out of the soft tissue all right LASIK surgery bad for eyes or not I don’t have enough data to tell you yes or no I know they do use it not on just anyone you have to have a certain situation to have that I would personally you know I bring these things around right here but I’m not using him anymore ever since that I increase my fasting time like my vision has gotten significantly better so I fast and I did a video on this I fast for about I think it’s 20 21 hours now and man my eyes just get better and better and better but I will say Steve that when you sit in front of a screen which I know a lot of people don’t do that anymore they’re out there in nature now when they’re in front of a screen boy that’s just that really is really what’s behind the visual problem so you want to get out of your your office and get and start getting out in nature at least one hour a day and just get your vision going way the heck out there I do it every day or else I’d be right just right here and I’m out of here hey wait come back here okay by the way to take care of the folks on Facebook we are monitoring and to prove it Jane Urban on Facebook says she really reloaded just realize she has tendonitis or or tonight excuse me the adhering issue I believe and found a video you made about it where you showed a technique to help the symptom it worked and thank you now have a way to get relief while I work on my I think she means intermittent fasting Kido and I have anyway I hope that made sense so do you have a recommendation for tinnitus yes yeah so I have two techniques you know it doesn’t work 100% of the time Steve but it works like significantly I mean significant I would I would say maybe sixty to seventy percent of the time so I would try it there’s two different techniques just search on youtube dr. Berg and tinnitus ringing in the ears now I completely now I’m coming back full circle another lady asked a question about veneers that I recommend but and I told that the remedy which is be one but I didn’t tell that a connections you’d want a fat-soluble one called been thought to mean and foe to mean penetrates the fat layer of the nerve and in the inner ear and also if you have any peripheral neuropathy symptoms on your feet and it really really helps people it counters the complications of diabetes but for some people that’s really bad you got to take it for quite a few months to really see the change but it there’s some credible research on it okay my doctor says I’m type one diabetic how long should I do in a minute fasting as long as you can I would play it by ear if you have a lot of fat to lose you know let your body tell you how long to go if you’re not hungry ride the wave but make sure you take supplements to get your your nutrients and then when you do eat make sure it’s a really nutrient in dense thing type 1 diabetics need to do keto as well because even though they have to take insulin they’ll take a lot less if they reduce the amount of carbohydrates taking less insulin creates less problems complications if anyone tells you that insulin is perfectly safe to take regardless on the amounts they’re lying to you because just take a look at the studies excessive amounts of insulin are very damaging to your system all right Steve absolutely okay so someone said how to fast when you’re taking meds every 12 hours with food well just take your meds when you need to I mean there’s nothing mysterious about that okay I’m finally going getting to the point where where people are saying yes yes yes they want to know that question so I guess I’m pretty low down on the list of things here I need to talk to Mon from Canada are you there yes hi um hi dr. Farr is great to talk to you so I’ve been partially implementing your information for over a year and unfortunately I didn’t quite study properly and I thought I was doing Peter for intermittent fasting but a kind of incorrect version and I got more and more tired and I was never losing belly fat or midsection fat and my fatigue got so bad that the coffee wasn’t even really helping me anymore so then about six to seven weeks ago I really studied all your info thoroughly joined in a membership site which I should have done a year ago and so from what I learned I went on a four to five hour eating window and I ordered lots of these supplements which I’ve been taking for two weeks and I have lost weight about in five to six weeks I’ve lost about 14 to 22 pounds which is great because I was but I mostly lost a lot of weight on my arms and legs but still have sat on my belly and I don’t really want to lose any more weight on my arms and legs I think I’m going to start looking on healthy it’s kind of a little bit proportionate yeah so that that’s a bit of the background and then my question is about the second meal I’ve had incredible fatiguing this keto adaptation and I don’t actually know something ketosis because the strips don’t show at all that I am and so with the second meal I I don’t really know if I’m hungry I think it’s more than tired and the exhaustion is getting better with your supplement but it’s also like I can’t imagine not having that second meal and but I don’t know if I’m just tired because I don’t digest the second meal as well as the first one like I have some belching and there’s light floating after the second one but not after the first one okay and and I I cry especially like the salad for the second one I was like okay why don’t you do why don’t you do this okay why don’t you just have a salad in a second meal go with your body you like as far as what you need one of the things that produces energy in the body is having enough it’s called ATP you get little energy factories that make the make the energy but I don’t know if you’ve ever taken biology before Steve very little okay you ever hear this thing called the Krebs cycle okay nevermind but there’s a little energy pathway thing that generates energy and there’s it requires a lot of nutrients okay it requires b1 for the energy a magnesium and potassium and sodium so the biggest thing that I would recommend for you is I would recommend beefing up no pun intended your potassium and maybe even sodium as well but probably more potassium we need massive amounts because potassium if you take a look up took a look at the condition of low or a potassium deficiency even if it’s subclinical it’s called hypokalemia look it up the the biggest symptom the first symptom is you’re tired why because potassium is involved in the sodium potassium pump you have billions of these little pumps and your cells that are embedded into the cell outside of the cell it’s called a cell membrane and it forms a battery so 30% of all your energy is allocated to these little pumps so without those pumps you get tired so more potassium generate more electricity more nerve and muscle activation less potassium you muscles get weak and get tired you don’t quite feel right so it sounds like you’re doing better you just need a little bit more and give it a little more time there I would also recommend that you try and experiment and try some to take some exhaustion as ketones when in the middle of the day just see if that doesn’t give your brain some more energy because it could be that you have this history of insulin resistance and you’re not quite adapting fast enough so you can add that just to kind of give you more energy in this transition good question though okay yeah why don’t we go over to Facebook yeah and answer Marian’s question can you address uric acid in the body ACV is not working and my level is 11 I do not have symptoms of gout only burning in the body I really want to avoid all the looper and all I believe yeah uric acid acts like an antioxidant in the body and even when you have high levels you have history of gout or your cast of kidney stones when you do fasting it can elevate as an antioxidant function so the best way to reduce uric acid is just to make sure you’re taking a moderate amount of protein because that’s where it’s coming from they say to do cherry juice and almost other stuff I don’t recommend that I would recommend to alkalize your urine a little bit and the way to do that you can do more green leafy greens vegetables chlorophyll and potassium citrate thus it rates will help but the potassium is alkaline and that will actually reduce your pH because here’s the thing the uric acid won’t bother you as long as your the pH of the urine doesn’t get too excessively acid so you want it like about 6 in the urine you don’t want it like 5 you don’t want it too alkaline but you just want to slightly more alkaline so you have vegetables potassium citrate you can get that in the electrolyte powder that I have if you want to do that or just buy it but that will actually reduce the kind of like the the crystallization of that uric acid now they’ve studied this and they found that it really has people that have high levels of uric acid it has to do with the kidney is just not getting it’s not filtering this out efficiently it’s holding on to the uric acid so there could be some kidney damage going on that is going to take some time if you’re doing healthy keto and AF there is a really good kidney nutritional product by standard process you can look it up it’s called Rena tropen PMG Rena TRO fin PMG go ahead and order like one of those I mean one bottle and just take one before bed and over a period of time I think you might feel better from that ok Vicki from Florida she’s been waiting patiently are you there Vicki hey dr. Berg hi I just have a quick question my primary care doctor he freaks out when I take 10 to 20,000 I use a vitamin D a day and because I’m a nurse I can quite easily debate with him for thinking I’m a know-it-all and he didn’t you know ask to check my calcium you know he didn’t I feel like I know more than him concerning the subject because I listen to you and a couple other doctors one other doctor mentions he keeps his vitamin D level at 120 which I don’t know what he takes for that but it’s a well known doctor you would know him anyways um what do you what do you say to that what do we tell our doctors when we’re trying to get that vitamin D in and maybe they haven’t studied up like you know yeah they probably haven’t there’s there’s quite a few medical doctors who have books on the topic you can always use them as a reference but the question is well how high is your vitamin D anyway in your blood well I haven’t checked recently but they were concerned the main concern came from my son’s adult sons 21 and 24 I came in like one came in with a headache and he goes what you that could be your vitamin D level being too high and I’m thinking okay I haven’t checked mine in a while okay but just the fact that you’re taking it right he’s probably like oh you’re taking too much right yeah well it’s it’s fascinating because in 20 minutes excuse me 20 minutes in the Sun will give you about 15,000 IU’s of vitamin D of course your body will regulate in excessive amounts if you actually get from the Sun so you can you can’t overdo it there’s the really only dangerous side effect or so-called dangerous side effect from vitamin D would be hypercalcemia high calcium in the blood and then the only side effect the bad one from that would be kidney stones kidney stones so in order for you to get hypercalcemia by taking vitamin d you would have to take like a hundred to two hundred thousand i use a hundred thousand to two hundred thousand IU’s over a period of a good amount of time there’s so many benefits therapeutically to take like 20 to 30 even 40,000 IU’s of vitamin d if you’re concerned about the kidney stones what you can do is just kind of avoid taking calcium as a supplement and cheese and then you won’t have the calcium to build it into a stone the benefits of vitamin D are this first of all it’s almost impossible to get it from your diet because the foods aren’t high enough many people don’t go on the Sun so they’re not gonna get it that way as you age you don’t absorb it a lot of people have a fatty liver so and they don’t have enough bile so they’re not absorbing it through that way viruses and infections especially being a nurse I probably exposed to different viruses and the viruses have strategic ways of downgrading your vitamin D receptor and now you’re like you’re even low so vitamin D acts like cortisol in the body it’s a good anti-inflammatory anytime I get low back pain I’m like up I need some vitamin D and it completely goes away so I’m going to be doing more videos than vitamin D I have a lot but it’s a fascinating vitamin I believe it’s one of the most in actually the it is the most important fats I have a vitamin and so because the benefits for the immune system are huge on what it can do to keep your viruses in check especially related to the flu okay doc I’ve got a quiz for you yes exciting but not made of food the summit that’s good see if you’re really really being creative today yeah the summit’s coming up we’re actually going to be releasing the video on it any day now I hope you guys can make it I time to meet you in chat all right so let’s see here let’s see what good questions what do you think about stem cells I think they’re they’re wonderful you can actually have stem cell therapy it’s quite amazed to help all sorts of things from regrowing cartilage to inflammatory conditions and there the research is getting more and more on that you can stimulate your own stem cells by doing fasting if you do it long enough especially if your immune system and your colon so if you’re doing like a 48 or 72 hour fast you’re going to be kicking in these stem stem cells and it’s very very anti-aging okay good that’s a fundamental question here’s a newbie who wants to know how do I know that I’m entering ketosis I’m a beginner the the best way to know you’re in ketosis you can get the urine strips if you want or you can just basically ask yourself this can I go from meal to meal without being hungry or do I have to go every three hours and I need a snack are your cravings go away or going away is your hunger reducing then we know your ketones are activated that’s the best way and then the other way Steve is just to look down and if you still see your stomach there’s still a ways to go if your stomach is shrinking you’re in ketosis someone has to question about acidosis or our ketoacidosis do I have to be concerned about that only if you’re type 1 diabetic and you don’t regulate your insulin if you’re regulating your insulin and being a type 1 you don’t have to be worried about it it happens when the blood sugar is out of control but when you’re doing healthy ketosis you don’t you’re not going to develop that and it’s just what that is it’s a condition where you’re getting so much acidity developing because you’re so deep into ketosis because there’s no regulation from insulin it’s just like out of control that it could be dangerous to the blood because your pH is too acid but that’s that only happens if you’re type 1 and if you’re ignoring taking insulin and your blood sugars are like 3 4 5 600 okay that’s not going to happen when you do regular ketosis and plus if you’re eating what I’m recommending like at least seven cups of vegetables you’re getting you’re going to alkalize the body very nicely to to to keep it in check okay docking here’s another rather obvious question maybe but I think it’s important to remembering that many people are just learning about you in this great new way of life yeah and one of them is Donna and she wants to know where do I start what videos or basic steps to the keto diet you know and it’s just too much information out here so she wants your counsel I think the best way to do I have a book but I would probably just get the small book you can get on Kindle it’s called healthy keto and a minute fasting look it look at I’ll thin this thing is okay you can read this in an hour and it has all these pictures it’s easy reading this actually is a really really really good summary and then a lot of times people get this to fill in the details but if you go to my website dr. Burke is a terrific questions and we you know we always feel bad at the end of every show because there’s many that went on an answer then it would be great for them to be yeah because we have 3000 a day so I’m gonna have to figure out that out figure that out someone else will MCT oil break a fast yes it’s its it has calories in it so yes it’s gonna break a fast will it break ketosis no it’s not going to bump you out of ketosis because the you ketones are being generated from the NCT oil but here’s the thing will it will it block your fat burning it’ll – it’s gonna slow down your weight loss because you’re you’re gonna use the ketones from the MCT and not your own fat but I recommend MCT oil for a lot of people especially as in the transition phase especially if they’re exercising especially if they starting out it’s awesome because it’ll give you ketones instantly and you have your brain will feel better and it’s even if you if you have an Alzheimer’s or any type of cognitive issues or dementia and you take MCT oil you’re actually giving the brain ketones and it loves that ketones will feed a damaged brain better than glucose way better than glucose okay foods that are easily digestible soft foods yeah yeah if you can actually just take a you know like pudding and oatmeal and softwoods like Cyril right that’ll be good applesauce and I’m being very sarcastic Steve no you don’t want to do those foods those are they’re easy to digest but very bad on your endocrine system they’re gonna spike the blood sugar the foods that are easy to digest are the foods that support your the parts of your digestive system like the fiber for example you feed the microbes and they have more microbes to help you digest you need fermented foods like like I like I ate these pickled vegetables and also pickles all the time moderate protein Locard’s those things will actually support your digestion and you may need some support with from outside of vinegar to really give you probably the most help with your stomach anyway on that note I really appreciate your attention your questions I wish I could have answered every single one but go to my website I have a lot of answers to these questions right here stay tuned and we’ll see you next week have a good one [Music]

the speakers are gonna be amazing I agree with Dan one time yeah okay well let me get right into my question so you really have are an expert on the gallbladder and I have been following you and doing healthy ketosis is the end of 2016 but makes basically 16-8 been doing Oh mad for the last couple months I was having a lot of gall bladder pain which I assumed was sludge an ultrasound when I first started following your your path in 2017 said there was a tiny bit of sludge or a small polyp I’ve just been following your entire protocol my fasting insulin is to my recent a1c is five point seven a little high I do have a lot of belly fat and probably some kind of blood sugar dysregulation anyway the recent ultrasound three weeks ago after a ton of pain showed multiple gall letter polyps and a very distended liver and I just am at my wit’s end I don’t know what to do but I thought I’d ask you okay great well so a couple things I would like to mention about that it’s great that your insulin is – that’s that’s pretty loud that’s awesome as far as your a1c are you finding that you’re pretty good with your diet that may be certain times of the week where the or the month that you go off and off the program I’m a long time sugar addict who’s got it pretty much under control but occasionally I’ll do a very organic tumeric bar with coconut sugar and I’ve stopped that that’s all after I get about this and also I should mention I did just recently quit drinking I know you don’t drink I’ve been trying to stop for a long time I did quit a month ago okay awesome well I only drink on the weekends no no I don’t drink at all here’s the ques the point about that the a1c is an average of three months so if you you know kind of go off every so often your a1c will creep up a little bit even though you check on a daily basis it might be good so your blood sugars that would just measure an average so that would make sense I’m glad you came off the alcohol I think I think now your liver your gall bladder is just gonna actually gonna have to take some time to undo some of the damage as far as the polyp you know a lot of times they’re a benign they don’t do it and they just sit there but the fact that your livers distended just tells me there was stress in that area so Quito is going to be exactly what you need to do insulin resistance is I’m sorry in a minute fasting is exactly what you don’t do combined with that but the other thing that you really want to make sure is you have enough cruciferous vegetables in the diet there’s so many properties phytonutrients and cruciferous vegetables that are going to help you that you want to beef up those vegetables no pun intended but one of the bests vegetables you want to consume a lot of for the gallbladder than liver is Karen’s gonna answer it I wasn’t paying attention what’s that what’s the best vegetable for the gallbladder we covered that last week you know it you liked them Brussels sprouts close you like remember those little red things Oh beep I mean radish yeah beets are good too but radishes are the top so I don’t know if you like those Tim but I think if you start eating radishes that would be very beneficial not just for the liver but for the gallbladder so you want to start doing the big salads now and then I think you’re just gonna have to give it time go real high quality and then ride the wave do periodic prolonged fasting to give you a liver a chance to also heal and that experience the toffee J which is going to clean out some of the old damage you know proteins in the liver but I think you’re on the right track just you have to get more time stay really clean not even a little bit of coconut sugar and I hope to see you at the summit thanks for doing any soy than your diet no no boy okay men all right I think this is gonna be really really simple are you ready for this Katherine yeah okay you’re doing the right thing the estrogen balance with Tim is something that I uh I I actually recommend for people with the sim balances with estrogen can just help maintain healthy estrogen balance but it actually comes from the cruciferous vegetables that you need to increase the cruciferous vegetables because those vegetables help to regulate estrogen a lot better than anything that I know but unfortunately I think you’re gonna have to take the dairy and put it to the side for a little bit I you’re gonna find your skin is gonna clear right up there’s just so many hormonal factors in dairy there is mint or a cow and growing a baby calf – and so it’s filled with all sorts of growth hormones and including estrogens so certain people are sensitive sensitive to it I do consume dairy on a regular basis I make sure that it’s of course grass-fed organic but for some people like yourself I think if you give that up you’ll see a huge change and those side effects that you have right now and I would also really add in a good amount of the cruciferous vegetables on a daily basis and I think you’re gonna be in good shape so go ahead and try that and let us know how you want how it works okay Karen what do we what two things two factors here obviously if you’re plateauing we want to we want to really just target in on that estrogen to keep the estrogen down the two big things that will bring the estrogen to a good place would be of course fasting in carbs right say it again the two things that will help bring estrogen in a good place normal fasting in carbs you said low carb no carb I suppose if you picked a different so we want to go low carb and we want to fast longer so we want to bring the carps down to maybe below 10 grams a day so that’s cutting out a lot of stuff and then also we want to do longer fasting now if we look at the two side-by-side actually this is probably a no it’s not it’s not going to be a quiz because I think I’m gonna already answer it but if we take a look at that the the benefits of both of those intermittent fasting provides you more benefits than keto now if you combine them you get a compound effect even more than them probably so because when you actually fast not only are you lowering carbs in your diet you’re actually you’re not eating so you’re not skimming letting incent because every time you eat you stimulated insulin regardless of what you eat so the combination is important so to answer that question we want to find out like what is she doing now and let’s let’s make it more the other thing more yeah like make it more intense or less carbs you know I’m talking about alright okay so we also want to look at years or her stress level we want to look at her sleep we want to look at exercise that she exercised those factors okay if there’s any health problems obviously addressed that but as far as the hair loss goes I think the most important thing is the trace minerals trace minerals are the activator activators for proteins protein growth enzymes but let’s say you’re taking the trace minerals and it’s still not working it could be because your stomach is too alkaline so you need to actually do apple cider vinegar or betaine how to chloride to acidify the stomach when you take them take them on an empty stomach boom go in there help grow your hair back you know what’s really interesting is you do no anything bad in it it’s just berries and there’s no sugar like some of the other stuff and I think people are gonna like it taste is great lead into that Cheryl thanks for that question and then Johnny from YouTube also he’s been on keto for a year mm-hmm and he’s again continuing to get pancreatitis not that you treat pancreatitis but do you know why that would happen or usually most the time from my experience the person is also on some other medication that has the side effect of pancreatitis so if there’s something else like that if you’re on medication check with your doctor that could be it but it’s very unusual that you would get inflammation of the pancreas if you are on the healthy version of keto that I recommend as well as in a min fascinating something like it’s very unusual so I would look at what you’re eating the quality food and and clean that up I do know that sometimes if there is a stone that’s stuck in your bile duct that can back up the ducts through the pancreas and create inflammation that could be a possibility in which case you need purified bile salts so these are all factors but it’s hard to evaluate that without really getting a history so you out of the body okay I’m worried okay so um I mean bone broth can take you out of ketosis because it’s a protein for sure that’s one thing that you probably want to avoid I will be doing a video today on all the things that you can consume when you’re doing fasting that won’t necessarily knock you out for too long but just one let people know these these these questions are not staged back to back like the minerals that we were just we’re finally coming out with our new upgrade of our trace minerals because the last version was liquid in it it’s just them it’s a bit too messy so this one’s in a capsule but it has all the trace minerals and the right blend it’s plant base plus it has some additional trace minerals in higher amounts that I really liked so that that’s something that you could do but if you’re asked if you just wanted to take selenium because selenium is very unique as an antioxidant you want to make sure take like roughly about 55 milligram micrograms fifty five micrograms not milligrams but selenium is a very very powerful antioxidant so it would be good to take if you have Hashimoto’s or some inflammatory condition like or like infant because I was just about to talk about that it’s gonna be on one of the videos today it’s this very interesting how these questions are very matching you what I’m gonna be talking about so so if we look at the relationship ship between Quito or intermittent fasting your skin and wrinkles there’s old there’s actually quite a bit of data on this not just in human studies but animal stage so if you have a pet mouse for example and you want down right through their skin or wrinkled their hair you want to put them on a ketogenic diet but if we actually can if we do both of those we’re gonna create some interesting effect on your skin number one normally when you age you actually have a loss of collagen so that’s going to slow down so that aging factor you can actually have more collagen in the skin when you do fasting fasting also kicks like the fasting mimics a little bit of starvation and so your body has all these amazing things that kick in there to counter that that kind of slow down the aging process so you have decreased inflammation of the skin you get you get rid of like aging little spots you you actually have more blood flow to the skin the top two layers of the skin start slowing down and aging I mean like all these really interesting things so I’m gonna I’ll do a complete video on it but the blood flow alone from the activation of certain things when you fast is going to be huge because you’re gonna see like like the elasticity it’s going to be softer skin not as rigid just healthier looking glow so that would be does she need to start taking any collagen or just no no that that actually doesn’t do much skin is a reflection of a lot of things with just good nutrients in general you would want the like the definitely the trace minerals a good amount of vitamin C that’s going to be important but you really that those don’t work unless you have the healthy version of Aikido and intamin fasting implemented so I wouldn’t actually add any supplements unless you’re doing this correctly because if you’re not doing it correctly and you’re using the supplement you’re not gonna see change it’s gonna be expensive urine go right through you okay now Karen I do have a little quiz here oh okay speaking about skin it’s out of all the things that you can consume what is the number-one thing that is the most beneficial for the health of your skin let’s see if he’s doing high-intensity exercise so he probably has a question about what are those the right thing for an enlarged prostate and and the answer is absolutely because if you look at a high carb diet that creates inflammation and that creates a lot of other issues related to the anabolic effect of things like the antibiotic effective insulin having high insulin it makes things grow so if you actually Dookie tell you you can improve that area of your body but I would definitely Frank if I were you I would eliminate all dairy if you have the prostate issue eliminate dairy you really want to also work on your liver because that’s going to actually help the balance of testosterone so that’s going to be important and don’t be afraid to consume a good amount of cruciferous vegetables because believe it or not sometimes the excess excessive amounts of estrogen in the diet and in the body can contribute to an enlarged prostate so those are some things that I would recommend Frank all right okay the answers are pouring in what do we got so a lot of people you’re saying water okay vitamin D and then another big answer is vitamin C okay and then there’s fats and oils mm-hmm a has four things actually yeah has four things it has two this way that’s awesome yeah so common oil doesn’t just have two the most important omega-3 fatty acid it’s like DHA and EPA but it also has vitamin D and vitamin A which is really good for the skin now it doesn’t have a lot of vitamin E and you can get that from your leafy greens but for your skin you should be consuming cod liver oil on a regular basis because it’s a powerful thing for your skin to make it look healthy and give it the fats because it has fats and your skin is fat you’ll actually provide all the precursors to building healthy skin especially if you have dry skin too so cod liver oil is the top of the food chain the things for the skin but you guys I have another very important difficult quiz question coming up we throw a lot of words around here you assume everybody knows okay what does keto actually mean all right what does keto me what is key to me keto is short for ketones but let me define ketones ketones are alternative fuel in your body so you can run your body on sugar or ketones and the way ketones are made is from your own fat so when your fat is burned you actually it can turn into ketones and you can use that as fuel it’s a superior fuel because your body likes it it’s good for your brain it’s good for your heart it’s good for your mood it’s good for your nervous system and so the other thing about ketones it’s like people when they will lose weight they want to burn fat right well when you think of fat burning just think of ketosis because it’s the same exact thing so when you’re burning fat you’re in ketosis when you’re in ketosis you’re burning fat the great majority of people that are trying to lose weight they’re not actually burning ketones they’re not actually using ketones they’re just they lose some water weight and then they plateau and they struggle but the average person that’s not overweight is carrying around a lot of fat like about a hundred thousand calories of fat if you take an obese person they’re taking they’re carrying a lot more so we have this huge amount of stored calories that we should be tapping into because we’re sure we should be burning fat but a lot of people don’t realize that the way to tap into that is through using ketones as your fuel and getting your body to break that down okay good so why you know you see other diets advertised and you know there’s weight loss and things like that why is this keto diet any different or how would you compare it to other dives well I think it’s it’s a lot better simply because it handles a really really really big problem that most most people have with majority of health problems are related to a condition where you have too much insulin not just diabetes but inflammatory conditions if I deliver all sorts of things heart issues and so this high insulin is behind a lot of these problems and so keeps ketones or going on a ketogenic diet handles that specific issue and when you combine it with in a minute fasting you have two powerful tools to really help to regulate this root problem behind so many health problems so the benefit of this diet is that handles a lot of health problems indirectly okay great is it hard to do well not if you do it correctly if you do it like people that you sorta Kito they sort of get on it so they don’t bring their cards down low enough they struggle they don’t get into ketosis as fast but ideal if you do it correctly like I teach people you should be able to get into ketosis within three days and you shouldn’t have any of the side effects that people say that you might have like keto fatigue or key to the flu that’s just basically you’re not doing it correctly with the right healthy nutrients so the transition could be very smooth if you know how to do it right so no it’s not hard okay and you mention the side effects it that you know there’s you said there’s things that you’ll experience if you’re not doing it correctly but what if you’re doing it correctly are there is there any drawback is there anything negative that you could experience from doing healthy keto diet the way you yeah well describe I think I’m going to be totally transparent there are some serious side effects to this year your pants will flow fall off because you lose too much weight you end up spending a lot of money on new clothes which is very expensive of course when you’re doing it fast and you’re cutting down like maybe 300 outs on your shopping bill so maybe that can compensate but you’re gonna have more energy so you’re gonna end up having to do more work around the house you know your spouse your will have you do more work as all this extra energy but I’m being very sarcastic the benefits are huge there I have not found any drawbacks the drawbacks or the side effects of being on a high carb diet are huge you know fatigue and the other big benefit of keto is like you’re hot you’re you don’t you’re not hungry anymore so you could do it long-term sustainable wow that sounds pretty good yeah I think I might try it you may want to think about it care about doing it so okay what if you’re just starting out and you’re you’re brand new yeah you know what’s what’s a really simple way to get started how do you know what to eat and what not to eat it can be overwhelming right well I won’t get into the details I’ll give you the big overview it’s real simply bring your carbs down between 20 and 50 grams a day so it’s low carb you want to bring but we’re not counting vegetables so bring your vegetables up to like seven at least seven cups a day ok so we do that have a moderate amount of protein you know three to three to eight ounces or three to six ounces depending on how big you are and how fast your metabolism per meal okay and then it’s high fat so high fat moderate protein low carb large most vegetables that’s the simplicity of it right there now to to get the details then you can you can go on the website and really dig in to the specific questions but that’s the simplicity of it okay okay good and you you mentioned something about how long you can do it what if your goal which I think for most people their goal is weight loss although there are so many other health benefits but what if you achieve your weight goal would you continue yeah it’s kind of funny like people like hey yeah just lost weight so I’m going to go back to what I was doing before and gain it all back I’m like no this is a long-term thing because the benefits of longevity health cardiovascular cognition are all part of it so when you do it and you feel good you’ll you’ll have that realization that you need to stick this is a long-term thing and it’s not uncomfortable at all dieting is uncomfortable because you’re hungry all the time this one is sustainable because your hunger goes away and that’s really what makes it easy to do in the long run well it must be easy to do because it’s hugely popular and not just in the United States all over the world you can read articles and see posts and things like that why do you think it’s so popular well it’s definitely popular because it works if it was if it didn’t work it probably wouldn’t be that popular something that works you’re gonna tell your friends your family it’s like life-changing that’s why it’s spreading virally right now all over the place because it simply works and so a lot of people are doing it I think it’s I know it’s not a fad it’ll be around for a long time well it’s been around for a long time it actually isn’t a new know discovery right it’s been around since like the 20s for epilepsy but what happened is like then you have the Atkins but dekins was higher amount 17 pounds and but I’m dealing with I’m dealing with daily all-day dizziness Moody and I’m grumpy and diarrhea and I’ve tried to eliminate things to try to figure out what the diet riah issue is but okay I meant a lot so I have a couple quick questions just answer them very rapidly for me are you consuming anything with sugar alcohols at all like a little kiddo bombs or an English sugar alcohols like wreaths or tall xylitol mannitol all any of those I had been but that was like a couple weeks ago I stopped it in my coffee thinking it was that but it never stopped the diarrhea didn’t stop okay are you doing any MCT oil or coconut oil I haven’t done it no not all the time just smidge to add it to some of my supplements to get it to go down okay but not in all the time think anymore okay so put that here cuz that too because that can create diagraph are you doing a lot of vegetables that you’re not that you haven’t done in the past so is that like a new thing and see I stopped my kale shakes which is not a normal thing for me I stopped them Sunday thinking I could help get rid of the diarrhea I want to continue them because I’m felt better but that’s why I’m weeding out – not sure if it was that I don’t think it was okay cuz I still got it okay are you craving salt yeah okay yeah I feel like I am okay so here’s what you do Himalayan pink sea salt start increasing that in the diet because when you actually have adrenal fatigue going into keto and you do keto you lose the water the dream else need salt to recharge them so if you don’t have enough salt you’re gonna feel a little tired a little dizzy maybe a little lethargic so all you have to do is increase the sea salt you’re going to brighten up but don’t eat things like potato chips increase the sea so just have like put it on your food I like the Himalayan sea salt that would be really really good now with the diarrhea you’re gonna be losing a lot of minerals – trace minerals so you’re gonna have to put that back I think you’re going to need to do more of a like a carnivore for a month or two because there might be a little bit of a imbalance with your with the microbes and and you might have a little SIBO you can look that up and so when you’re here you adding all the fiber you know that could be an issue you I just I’m not saying to totally do it but just try it to see if that helps you watch my recent video that I didn’t area on what you need to take to stop it and to maybe you definitely need probiotic and blackberries and kefir that will help you and maybe some psyllium seed so do that questions here first of all lots of people I would say lots more than a couple are asking how much cod liver oil what form of cod liver oil want to just answer that what I would do is I would unless you can find a tablet without multiple dextran that they put with it you want to get either the in the pearls or you want to get it in a liquid now the ideal one that you can get would be the virgin cod liver oil it’s a bit expensive but if you can afford it that would be the first choice however the other colorful oil that you can get on the market that is of course non-gmo and all that it’s not usually it’s not going to be a problem um it’s not like wild-caught that would be awesome you know even if it’s in liquid that you’re going to benefit from that greatly to so you can do that but try to get the virgin if you can’t just get a higher quality wild-caught and how much i would honestly you know it really depends on your situation but like a tablespoon a day would be awesome or a couple of those little pearls per day maybe three of those per day that would be good you don’t need to take more than that now the cat the the soft gels that I had were like big honker stuff right I’d – yeah that’s cool okay that’s probably not even a tablespoon in the no no okay good now here’s a really interesting question well before you answer that I’m gonna ask a quiz and then won’t go right to and it’s just a huge bowl of salad it’s like what do you like right there’s some there’s some if you could mimic the type of vegetation that is similar to what you ate in the Paleolithic times cavemen times that would be the ideal seems I hate Brussels sprouts not even that you know like different different herbs and different like I love to go to the farmers market they have this blend of salad that’s like all over the place from all these different things that I’ve never had versus romaine lettuce so if you get a mixed greens that’s better than just one and that’s what I would do now as far as the amounts go it’s just just take a little handful you know that’s one cup and do that seven times now it’s not that hard Karen you we got to get a video this you you make salads probably ten cups it does but you chop it down so it looks like it’s three cups but you could knock that out and it tastes good and in fact you even want more but it’s not hard to do once you try it and I think people don’t know how much that is they’re they’re thinking like this huge bowl and they’re like chewing for hours like no that’s why I use the salad scissors because I don’t want to deal with that yeah and I just happen to love arugula I also love red cabbage the more purple cabbage more bitter is the better bitter is better that’s right bitter better but there is this idea and someone else posted on here Oh Elena dandelion greens yeah absolutely that’s the best that is really great if and if you like that and some arugula is very mild some arugula is so peppery it’s almost like a mustard green no one likes stanlon greens that you different health reasons but I will say that the dandelion greens are bitter and they’re hard to chew you’re like well that’s true and mix it in with other things but a point came up here you need a super wide variety of vegetables and then someone else is saying you know we live where we live we don’t have a variety like that so maybe we can’t do Quito no something is better than nothing something is better than nothing just getting that the principle of more greens and getting rid of the carbs and the sugar the grains and the sugar if you just think that like okay I’m just gonna go through my day and I’m going to make sure that I don’t have anything that’s a grain or anything that has sugar I mean you just have to start really simple and honestly when I started I really revolted against what I couldn’t have so what I did was focus on what I needed to add to my diet instead of what to avoid instead of what so later well he’s the doughnuts he just added some salad too high it might sound funny but what I focused on was getting seven cups of vegetables a day and I didn’t focus on anything else but when I told you to have something more green I didn’t mean pistachio ice cream and lime green jello I meant Sally I know sometimes I’ll have to clarify those pointy mint green tea ice cream or pistachio ice cream gelato okay that’s just not fair now I just have to just have to say so I just have to say this one thing and then I’ll zip it okay there is a new Kido dessert that we’re coming out with in these little sachets that is to die for and it’s pistachio cream and you know why why it’s so good is because it has pistachio butter in it and it’s like wow it’s gonna be really good I know people are gonna be asking when it’s going to be available so it’s gonna take a little bit because you know where to make that it just takes time but just stay tuned that’s gonna be a very very delicious treat after your meal notice the snow yes okay so here’s one more question that you followed the whole salad vegetable conversation on social media here so if I have this huge salad won’t that kick me out of Quito the thing about Quito is that you you want things that don’t stimulate insulin there’s really only two two things that won’t stimulate insulin as far as food that’s fat and fiber so vegetable is mostly fiber it’s not very sweet it’s bitter actually some of the vegetables that we’re talking about so that it’s not gonna really mess with your keto too much but we but if you’re doing fasting we’d prefer if you’re doing a big salad do it at the meal but if you’re doing a little bit of a green drink or something like that it’s not that big of a deal so good questions though yeah it does kick you out of fasting right but not ketose not necessarily ketosis right unless it raises insulin better watch your dressings but if you actually these dressings are full of sugar sometimes so you really have to read the label yeah but if you if you look at the calorie aspect because the count if you have food with a bit too many calories regardless that will activate something in the small intestine something called GI P what’s your activate insulin so again you know you have to learn the different points to this but but we’re not going to count calories we’re not counting calories but I’m just saying that if you want to do a true fast just do it true fast without anything but I’ll I have some really good videos coming down the pike with that one too okay so you had asked a question and this was a while ago so I had no I have to go back and see what these guys answer I said what’s the cheapest thing you can do to increase your health let’s see if anyone got it right you find it well if Sydney is answering the question let’s see it alright you look at that Karen I need to answer a question from ya Eva you’re from New Jersey you had a question go ahead yes I have Hashimoto okay I am 55 and I have to lose another last ten pounds which ones look like I started struggling with a lot accounting hizmet I’m thinking about going one meal a day but also I am afraid because of my Hashimoto is in fact is the safe for me got to do it good question 90% of all hypothyroid conditions our Hashimoto’s it’s autoimmune there’s some really important things you need to do for that one is the selenium you want to increase your selenium a good amount there’s some hardcore research on this that will show you that because it’s an autoimmune you have a lot of free radicals going on a lot of inflammation the selenium is the key nutrient to counter a lot of that and you can even diminish hydrogen peroxide being generated and a lot of other free radicals and the in thyroid so I would take selenium okay and I did a video on this recently and you can look it up but I would for sure do Oh Matt because it’s going to reduce your inflammation just make sure that one meal a day that you eat is really nutrient-dense because the thing with low thyroid is that if you do keto with low amounts of nutrients that’s what messes with the thyroid so as long as you’re doing a good amount of nutrients and you may need to supplement you’re going to be fine but I think that would be very smart because your inflammation is going to go down your immune system is going to get better but definitely add selenium all right Karen what do we what do people answer answering I’m enjoying Facebook today you guys are awesome so so are you youtubers but there’s some funny answers over here most people both on YouTube and Facebook are saying fasting or intermittent fasting some are saying keto a couple people on Facebook are saying cook at home I like that I like that answer thank you for that answer exercise and my next favorite answer is sleep sleep although I guess that when you sleep you are also fasting so that’s a twofer the thing is that the thing is that I’m specifically mentioning cheap where shoe get healthy what’s the cheapest way to get healthy is it what about drink water you think drinking water no no fast it’s not eating yeah exactly that’s the answer so it’s a very very cheap you can save a lot of money when you don’t eat and you get a lot of health benefits but of course it’s not the healthiest thing if you do it too long if you fast for three years and that could be a problem so I’m just talking about a period of time right but it’s interesting though isn’t it just fascinating and by the way guys if you haven’t come to our some our last year two years of summits last several years of summits you need to come to this one because we’re gonna be emphasizing fasting and in a minute fasting a lot of the speakers coming you’re say you’re 50 years old what are some of the ways you can do to boost your immune system is Quito a big thing use intermittent fasting a big thing I do a 20 hours on for 4 hours off and my wife does like a semi two hour so in relation to diabetics what should you do we also take you know k2 and vitamin D awesome thanks for calling Marcos so yeah there’s a you know the people that get infected with a virus there’s certain people that data they’re like immune to it other people get infected they don’t have problems other people are getting infected they have problems the healthier you are the more you’re going to bulletproof I will be releasing a video this next week on all the sneaky little devious strategies these viruses do to hack your own immune system so you might want to watch them because they are devious a virus is not really alive and it’s not really dead it can only leech onto your your own cells and act as a copy machine if your cell membranes are weak okay so so this release relates to how can you strengthen the cell well probably starting at the top of the list as far as improvement in immune system integrity it would be fasting that’s number one number two is low low carb because the sugar makes you more susceptible to getting viruses number three hope you’re sitting down for this one stress when you’re under stress you’re more susceptible to viruses back in practice I take all these cases coming in and so many a case after case viral infections you know like okay so wanted to start what happened right before that a stress event stress is a big factor so whatever you can do to minimize stress that would be good long walks you know get out of town go on vacation but all these things are very very important stop watching the news thank you Karen watch something positive because I’m telling you they’re really hyping this thing up they’re pushing this up and it’s creating more fear fear well let you know that’s just not good that’s not a healthy state to be in if you’re diabetic you may want to add more things like antioxidants like vitamin C for example a natural food based vitamin C to help your immune system it’s probably the most important one as an antiviral garlic is very very very important zinc is really important vitamin D is very important one of the things that the these viruses do to invade your body is they know that vitamin D controls the immune system so they go in there and they shut down your ability to absorb vitamin D so unless you take more year you’re more susceptible to getting this virus so that was a long answer but that’s what I would do if I were you Marco’s also watch my video I did recently on boosting your immune system okay because I cover all that all right Ken give me give me a really easy question do you have any easy ones cuz these guys are really challenging I know they do come up with really good questions here is something near and dear to me how can you support or eliminate shingles pain you don’t want to support pain but you know what I mean how can you you have shingles it is very painful I had when I was a young kid and which is unusual but it’s very painful yeah it’s very painful the it’s a viral infection and it comes out when you’re stressed there’s a couple things you can do if it doesn’t invade and break the skin and it just hurts it starting you can press on the opposite nerve which is usually it’s going to be in the back or something it’s usually on following a rib around there if you work on the opposite side it tends to actually reduce the pain intensity but there’s some things you can do the biggest thing is to take zinc really fast take zinc is very very important there’s a couple other things to alpha lipoic acid and there’s something else called NAC you can get those as supplements and take them to reduce the severity and the duration of that viral infection but really the biggest thing is just to simply and very easily avoid all stress and you’re good to go but this dress is the activator yeah yeah okay you haven’t had any outbreaks three years no I I had got shingles when I was 16 years old and it was really really bad case but I haven’t that’s the last I’ve seen of it thank goodness and then um doing keto and intermittent fasting – yeah that’s gonna be a void experiencing that again because it was terrible yeah I know and it was after stressful interesting okay Veronica she’s calling from Iowa are you there Veronica oh yeah yeah my what part of film like you’re welcome what part of aisle are you from I’m actually in mo more but I I do look down to Palmer chiropractic dynacord I know I did yes I I’ve been there that’s where I went to school a lot of great memories yep yep great place I’d be lost without a mom Talia yeah well I’m a 66 year old obviously female I’m postmenopausal um I’ve had a lot of surgeries in my life lost both shoulders both knees can still exercise fairly well in on keto for three years I do fasting I’ve been on fasting for six months that’s anywhere from 20 to 22 hours a day but you know what I do no matter how hard I try I cannot get rid of this midriff long okay what am I doing wrong so I have a question do you do keto very strictly or is it you do it most the time but you do go off a little bit while if I go off it would be possibly once a month okay okay next question when you are fasting and you’re about to eat are you really hungry for that meal or not sometimes most of the time is just okay it’s it’s it’s in the schedule time to eat and I go ahead and prepare my niolani okay and as far as your Pascoe’s you’ve had surgeries you’re postmenopausal recently and you also do you have a history of maybe doing carbs for many years and possibly having insulin resistance yeah I do that’s got in a problem yeah okay so this is I think this is what you need to do Veronica I’m gonna take the worst-case scenario and I’ve dealt with that quite a few times you have people that you know they the postmenopausal women have more estrogen men they have all these things that are countering them hormonal eli’s thyroid could be involved and now they just can’t get rid of that that mitt that stubborn wait this is what you’re gonna have to do you’re gonna have to do all mad every other day and I’ve recommended this to several people and it’s worked really really well because the principle is don’t eat unless you’re hungry so I would ride the wave and go as long as you can so have a really good meal every other day and that’s just maybe what you might need because the metabolism is too slow now and and it’s just your body is just like very efficient at holding on to that fat so you’re gonna have to kind of extend it longer and I did recommend that to some people recently and that’s the only thing that worked so it’s one meal every other day now if you happen to do that and all of a sudden you’re not hungry at the second day you may want to ride the wave and just do it a little bit longer and just go every third day and and just try it out but obviously don’t push it too much take nutrients as well but I think you’re gonna
