In this video, we’re going to talk about why people with a fatty liver often get arthritis. What is the connection between these two conditions?

There are different stages of liver damage: fatty liver, fatty liver with inflammation, and cirrhosis.

Arthritis is inflammation in your joints. How does the inflammation get from the liver to the joints?

There are several mechanisms in play here. Liver fat creates cytokines, which are proteins that cause inflammation. The particular cytokines that liver fat produces increases systemic inflammation—or inflammation throughout your body.

These cytokines released by liver fat are why you can get inflammation in your joints and arthritis when you have liver disease.

To make things worse, cytokines can worsen insulin resistance. Insulin resistance makes getting rid of fat very difficult and increases even more systemic inflammation. This is a feedback loop that gets worse and worse.

When the liver is inflamed and filled with scar tissue, bile gets stuck. In turn, this can cause even more inflammation in the body and nutrient deficiencies.

In this video, we’re going to talk about liver cirrhosis and whether or it is reversible.

First, let’s talk about the differences between fibrosis and cirrhosis. Fibrosis is the first stage of cirrhosis, while cirrhosis is an advanced version of fibrosis. Essentially, cirrhosis is advanced scarring in the liver.

The more scarring in your liver, the less your liver has the ability to detoxify your body. In turn, you may have a build-up of toxins in your body if you have liver fibrosis or cirrhosis.

Liver fibrosis can start out with a fatty liver, liver inflammation, viral infections, alcohol consumption, a poor diet, low choline levels, too much iron, and certain drugs.

How do you know if you have cirrhosis? In many cases, the symptoms are non-existent. However, the signs of liver cirrhosis may include:
• Edema
• Low cognitive function
• Ascites
• Jaundice
• Itchiness
• Poor sleep
• Dark urine

The more symptoms you have, the more advanced it is.

So, back to the question, can you reverse liver cirrhosis? The answer is: it depends. If you have mild fibrosis or cirrhosis, it may be possible to reverse some of the damage. However, if you have severe liver cirrhosis, the problem may not be reversible.

The most important thing is to do whatever you can to avoid liver cirrhosis in the first place.

i had a question recently that i wanted to answer and this was the question will a liver cleanse help my cirrhosis or will it help my fatty liver my ammonia is high and is the liver cleanse gonna help me so let’s just talk about that now the first thing you should know about cirrhosis it’s an advanced situation in fact your risk for cancer goes way up uh 80 percent of people with liver cancer have some type of cirrhosis going on because cancer tends to grow in damaged tissue and as you damage the liver certain things don’t work anymore there’s an enzyme called arginase this is an enzyme that is involved in something called the urea cycle see when you break down protein into amino acids the extra amount of it uh has to go through as waste nitrogen waste so arginase is necessary in making sure that happens making sure that there’s a complete breakdown so it can exit the body without any toxicity if there’s not enough arginase in the liver we get an incomplete breakdown of arginine this is the amino acid then we get higher amounts of ammonia in the blood which can travel up to the brain and that can create a lot of different side effects like coma dementia all sorts of brain problems seizures tremors so ammonia is very very toxic and too much ammonia that builds up into the brain or the tissues really is there because there’s not enough this enzyme because there’s damage in the liver so the body cannot go through its normal urea cycle and um clean up this extra amount of protein going on now just as a side note when i’m talking about damage to the liver i’m not just talking about cirrhosis which kind of leaves your liver cells dysfunctional it can also be a severely inflamed liver so you can have hepatitis which leaves your liver dysfunctional you can have a fatty liver which stops the function or scar tissue and sometimes the fat in the liver creates inflammation that develops in the scar sometimes inflammation in the liver leads to insulin resistance which then creates more fat in the liver then you have a situation we have inflammation in the liver which directly turns into scar tissue that’s cirrhosis now the big question is will a liver cleanse help this well the problem is your liver is not dysfunctional because there’s toxins in it necessarily this is a progressive chronic condition that has developed over years that a liver cleanse probably is not going to even touch it may instead stir up a hornet’s nest it may make your symptoms worse it could actually release certain bacteria certain chemicals that are lodged in your fat cells and then actually recirculate through your blood end up in your thyroid and create all sorts of problems so i don’t recommend a liver cleanse what i do recommend is this number one i know this might shock you but i’m going to recommend keto why because keto is a much cleaner fuel it creates less inflammation than carbs it’s very beneficial to your liver and it can help you in reducing a fatty liver number two fasting what is that good for inflammation it’ll help you drop inflammation it’ll give your liver a chance to heal and that’s what we’re trying to minimize is the inflammation here to allow it to heal so these two are essential you want to make sure that you do not consume too much protein three ounces per meal would be perfect why because the problem is that we have an incomplete protein breakdown so why would we want to add more protein to your liver it’s already damaged you don’t have enough of this enzyme next thing to do is to take a product that has l-arginine and manganese manganese is a good trace mineral to help detoxify you and the amino acid which is a non-essential one l-arginine as a supplement it’s usually in a powder you can get it in capsules can help reduce ammonia if there’s not enough arginase there’s not going to be enough arginine so manganese is a precursor or a building block for arginase and it can help to increase the ability to detoxify the body number five we want to increase vegetables and celery that gives us chlorophyll and other natural phytochemicals to help the liver function a lot better so instead of a detox cleanse the best way to clean the liver is through the natural phytonutrients that comes from food and chlorophyll will help as well the phytonutrients in plants are enzymes that help different phases of detoxification and without side effects so these are very very important in the detoxification number six tocatrinals this is a type of vitamin e that comes in handy and it’s a very powerful antioxidant in fact the tocotrienols version of vitamin e is 50 times stronger than the tocopherols and it can greatly and help inhibit inflammation so if you have the start of cirrhosis or you have cirrhosis in the liver which is scar tissue vitamin e is going to help in this form talk adrenals but if you think about it vitamin e is good for scars right helps break down scar tissue well why can’t it work for scar tissue on the inside of the body as well very important and number seven probiotics there’s some great research on probiotics that can help decrease ammonia in the body as well i put a link down below but this is the protocol that i would recommend uh way better than a liver cleanse by itself before you go if you have a question about a product or you’re new to keto and you want to know how to Cirrhosis is an advanced situation—your risk for cancer goes way up.

First, let’s start by talking about an enzyme called arginase. Arginase is involved in the urea cycle. When you break down amino acids, the extra amount of it passes through as waste.

In this video, I want to talk about the relationship between zinc and your liver. Zinc is probably one of the most important minerals for the liver. Symptoms of a zinc deficiency are identical to the symptoms of a liver problem.

A zinc deficiency, like a liver problem, could increase the risk of:
• Loss of appetite
• Loss of body hair
• Altered taste
• Testicular atrophy
• Immune system impairment
• Decreased drug detox capacity
• Ascites
• Liver cancer
• Inflammation in the liver
• Skin problems

Does a zinc deficiency cause the liver to create these symptoms, or is it the liver damage that’s creating these symptoms as well as a zinc deficiency? This is hard to tell because the symptoms above could be created by both a zinc deficiency or a liver problem.

By getting more zinc through your diet or supplements, you could potentially reduce the above symptoms of a zinc deficiency or liver problem. You may even be able to prevent the symptoms, as well as protect the liver.

Foods rich in zinc:
• Shellfish
• Beef liver
• Beef, lamb, and other meats
• Seeds
• Nuts
• Dairy
• Eggs

There is zinc in whole wheat, but the problem is that the bran in wheat products prevents the absorption of zinc. To get zinc, you would want to avoid grains and sugar because sugar also depletes zinc. We don’t retain zinc very well, so if you’re not consuming zinc, you could be deficient.

Today we’re going to talk about the three fats that could potentially help reverse a fatty liver. Many people are afraid of fat. They think that if they consume any fat, it will give them a fatty liver. But, I believe that carbohydrates are really the big cause behind a fatty liver. 

Here are three fats you could start to consume in larger amounts to potentially help fix a fatty liver:

1. Olive oil (organic extra virgin)
• Anti-inflammatory 
• Omega-9 fatty acid 
• Supports a fatty liver 

2. Fish oil or cod liver oil (wild-caught)

I know there’s gonna be some people that are upset about this video just the way that it is okay I’m gonna be talking about organ meat that’s gonna offend some people it’s also gonna make some people scream it because I don’t want to think about eating organs but there’s no denying that organ meat is very very high in very specific nutrients that we need especially especially if we’re following some kind of paleo or low carb diet so what I’m going to do is I’m going to focus on three organs that are very very popular okay we’re gonna talk about heart we’re gonna talk about kidney and we’re gonna talk about liver now in the Western world most people if they’re even going to consider eating organ meat they’ll only focus on liver well what I want to do is I want to talk about the top nutrients within each respective organ so you know what kind of ratio of each you should really be trying to consume or get from some other supplemental source hey I do ask that you hit the red daily videos or better yet live coaching broadcasts to learn how to eat alright let’s jump in the first one I do want to talk about is going to be heart now in the Western world even people that eat organs and people that are doing keto are carnivore they usually don’t eat heart okay here’s the thing heart is probably one of the most nutritious mainly because it is so extraordinarily high in coenzyme q-10 and if you’re a devout follower of my channel you know how much I talk about coenzyme q10 because Co Q 10 is the most powerful antioxidant in my opinion at the cellular level when you look at just a simple serving of heart we’re talking 127 micrograms per gram of coenzyme q10 it sardines which are very high in coq10 as well only have 64 micrograms per gram we’re talking literally double the amount of coenzyme q-10 in just a little simple serving of heart now I don’t want you to just take my willy-nilly word for it on coenzyme q10 let’s talk about what this stuff does because it’s actually pretty darn cool alright so here’s what it looks like when you create energy in your body you have this thing called the electron transport chain right the electron transport chain is just what it sounds like you’re passing electrons down a chain to ultimately get into the cell to create energy you’re passing potential energy to a cell so I want you to envision like a line of 25 people I hand an electro to Bob Bob hands the electron to Sally Sally hands the electron to Jimmy and so on down the line well the faster that we move that electron and the more electrons that are moving the higher the likelihood of me dropping an electron or Sally dropping electron or Bob dropping an electron right when we drop an electron that electron runs amok throughout the body and triggers what is called a reactive oxygen species in the body has to work hard to neutralize that rogue electron so what coenzyme q-10 does is it makes it so that instead of me just handing an electron to someone’s hand they have a big mint they can catch that electron a lot easier so it reduces the risk of it dropping and bouncing around the body another analogy would be if I threw 25 baseballs out there and there was only one catcher he’s not gonna catch all 25 baseballs right but if I give that catcher a massive mitt that’s 25 feet wide he can catch all the baseballs right that’s basically what coenzyme q-10 does is it essentially makes it so that the acceptance of electrons is a lot easier therefore being an indirect and direct antioxidant because it’s making it so you don’t start oxidative stress within the first place but it’s highly highly fat soluble so it works exceptionally well with fatty acid metabolism which is exactly what you’re utilizing for fuel if you’re doing keto or carnivore and though for those of you that are super science nerds out there it also creates a better proton gradient between the outer membrane of the mitochondria and the inner membrane of the mitochondria meaning actually inside the powerhouse itself it becomes more efficient too and funfact heart has more collagen in it than muscle so if you’re actually eating the physical heart then you’re gonna get a heck of a lot of collagen – all right now I want to jump in to kidney for a second another one that people in the Western world don’t generally eat a lot of though a lot of times take it in supplement form which is great – we’ll talk about that in a second kidney is good moreso for the B vitamins side of the equation however you want to be focusing on a combination of kidney and heart which I’ll explain in a second you see kidneys are super high in b12 and B – very water soluble vitamins that we excrete very fast especially on a low-carb or a carnivore diet right so here’s what it looks like b12 forms red blood cells red blood cells carry oxygen we need oxygen for fatty acid metabolism so you’re burning fat for fuel you need oxygen so you need more red blood cells to deliver oxygen well along with that oxygen comes of course the electron transport chain working faster so we need Co Q 10 so if we have more red blood cells delivering more oxygen that equals more potential energy and more potential waste where we need coenzyme q-10 so pairing heart and kidney together work very very very well now when you look at nerve formation to vitamin b12 is very important for myelin sheath formation which is the sheath that forms on the outside of a nerve making sure that we send a proper signal to an organ or to a muscle or you name it then we have vitamin b2 which people don’t really talk too much about especially in the keto in carnivore community because it is so much focused on glucose metabolism guess what you still have glucose metabolism happening very much so via gluconeogenesis long complicated pathways point is if you have high amounts of b2 then you can become more efficient at the cellular level at utilizing that glucose which means your body doesn’t need as much floating around you want efficiency so vitamin b12 and b2 are super important so kidney and heart work really well together fYI we’re gonna talk about liver in just a second but my friends over at paleo Valley have an ordinance that’s really really cool it is a combination of liver heart and kidney so if you are interested in checking them out there’s a special link down below so that you can get that in a supplement form so you don’t have to be taking the you know actual meat source in as much I still at the end of the day recommend eating it in a meat source once a week if you possibly can but at least taking it in a daily supplement form you can feel like you’re getting the vitamins and getting the minerals that you need and at least the antioxidants to kind of sustain that overall effect so highly recommend you check them out special link for all my fans my followers people that watch my videos they’re a big supporter this channel as well so a big thank you to Paleo Valley as well so check them out now let’s go ahead and let’s move in to liver livers the big one all right almost everyone you see that’s in the keto or carnivore community will talk about eating a little bit of liver for the benefit that’s great but you really should be combining it anyhow the liver is high in a bioavailable form of vitamin A known as a retinol a okay this is preformed by it doesn’t need to be formed in the body so it’s ready to be used okay retinol a forms RX r and r AR which ultimately bind to specific receptors that regulate gene expression so if the overall DNA level okay when we are trying to form new genetic habits if you will we need this stuff we need vitamin A vitamin A in addition to being good for your eyes of course is so critical to everything within our bodies and the problem is we naturally get very depleted in it especially if we’re taking a synthetic form of vitamin D okay now I recommend taking vitamin D so you’re probably thinking that I’m a total hypocrite because I’m telling you that vitamin D is going to deplete your vitamin A it’s just the way it is so you really should be trying to get as much vitamin A in your diet if you’re consuming vitamin D in a synthetic form that’s why I generally say no matter what try to get vitamin D in a whole food form okay getting it from fish or whatever because if you get your vitamin D that way it doesn’t deplete as much of your retinol a if you take a copious amount in through a synthetic form it can deplete vitamin A which isn’t the end of the world as long as you’re getting enough retinol vitamin A in and that’s exactly where I do recommend eating liver or at least taking it in a supplement form even a few times per week but then we look at energy production for a second so vitamin A is the big thing but I want to touch on choline and zinc for one minute super high in choline – which is a precursor to what’s called acetylcholine and that’s just critical for neurotransmitter development for brain function and for developing what’s called neuroplasticity so really really important just for creating new neural pathways and something that we overlooked but remember it all starts here I don’t want to touch on immune system for just a second because zinc is very hard to come by unless you’re eating the right kind of nuts all the time which quite frankly they kind of chelate themselves so the minerals don’t get absorbed as well anyway or you’re eating a bunch of mollusks or a bunch of shellfish all the time so zinc plays a role in the immune system by making sure the immune system stays in check okay the immune system can overreact when it responds to a virus or responds to bacteria right so what we want to focus on is making sure the immune system doesn’t go so overboard that you’ve had too much of an inflammatory response that causes you to get super super sick that’s where things like pneumonia bronchitis things like that can come in because symptoms get so bad that they develop a life of their own and there’s a cytokine storm this chemical storm that occurs so zinc is very very good at just modulating that so again when you’re looking at in a supplement form or just in the full food form that’s definitely going to be a thing to do so word to the wise what I would recommend generally is at least one time per week try to get liver in okay the nice thing with liver is because it’s so fat soluble you really do only need to eat a couple ounce serving like once a week and you’ll be okay with that okay then when it comes down to kidney because it’s so water soluble you really should be consuming it more frequently which is tough because it’s not the easiest thing to get your hands on and heart that probably two to three times per week but again it’s somewhat fat soluble so the coenzyme q-10 you’re gonna get that benefit kind of lasting a little bit longer again you can eat it in those servings but you can also take supplemental form in between to make sure that you’re at least keeping blood levels somewhat stabilized we’re gonna meat is not bad I know it sounds scary I know it sounds daunting I know it sounds ominous but trust me it’s part of life and something that our bodies were designed to process I’ll see you I want to talk about something that’s very very common but very unknown it has to do with the connection between your liver and right side shoulder blade pain now if I’m gonna face this way this is my right side over here we have the scapula looking from behind here’s a spine here’s a muscle okay this muscle is called the rhomboid it brings the scapula inward and upward that way you have a little muscle right here it’s called the levator angle a scapula now if you have pain right in this space right here or up here or right down here chances are it’s the liver the liver is the most common source of this referred pain but people don’t connect the dots because they think the problem is right here and they’ll swear it’s from maybe just bursitis tendinitis or some injury when in fact they never really had an injury in that area possibly now this could also be the gallbladder or the bile duct because when the gallbladder has stones or it’s congested or there’s some blockage or irritation in the bowel duct that can irritate a nerve called the phrenic nerve and you have two of them and it can shoot up right here and cause a pain up on the right side and definitely up here so if it’s more up here usually it’s more gallbladder down here it’s more liver now if it’s on the opposite side it could be more pancreas but both of these problems are related to digestion and food take a look at a couple things that could cause a liver problem one is inflammation you ate something that created some inflammatory response either in your liver or the gallbladder or you have a fatty liver because you’re consuming too much of some of these foods right here and then there’s not enough space in there it just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger and a refer pain right back here now I personally had right shoulder pain and right rhomboid pain for 12 frickin years I had no idea it was related to my liver if I I went to Chiropractic College hoping that I would get it fixed and after a million treatments nothing worked until after I graduated and I eventually figured out what it was and I changed a diet and all that pain mysteriously went away I wish I would have known when I know now back then so alcohol can mess with the liver a high carb diet will do it too much iron can cause irritation inflammation in cirrhosis of the liver vegetable oils okay or medications can do it too check this out now if we compare back in the 70s to present time and we look at the amount of grain consumption we had an increase of 29% so that’s an average of a hundred and twenty two pounds of grains per person per year in the United States now I definitely don’t consume 122 pounds at all so someone must be consuming a lot more than that but this doesn’t really compare to these next two check this out in this 1970s we consumed 4.9 pounds of corn and I’m talking about corn products or corn oil or corn sweeteners as in high-fructose corn syrup now if we compare that to present time 14 pounds so we went from 4.9 pounds to 14 pounds that’s three times more that is an incredible amount of corn that people are consuming but check this out vegetable oils right which are really great oils 12 pounds in the 70s now it’s 36 pounds that is the spike three times that is a crazy amount of vegetable oils which by the way these are both GMO and they’re highly inflammatory they could potentially irritate the liver the gallbladder and create this pain if you’re new to my channel you should definitely learn about something called healthy keto and in a minute fasting it can help you I put a link down below but if you want more information about the liver and what to eat I put that video right here check it out

In this video, I want to talk about a very common and yet not well-known issue that causes right shoulder blade pain. This has to do with your liver.

There’s a connection between your liver and your right side shoulder blade. When you get pain in your right shoulder blade, there’s a good chance it could be your liver. Your liver is a huge source of this deferred pain.

The problem can also be the gallbladder or bile duct. This can also irritate the phrenic nerve, which is connected to the neck and shoulders.

Inflammation and fatty liver are the two main causes of an irritated liver. This is often due to:
1. Alcohol
2. High carb diets
3. Too much iron
4. Vegetable oils
5. Medications

Your diet is by far the biggest factor in liver health. If we compare our diets now to back in the 70s, we can see just how bad things have gotten.
Since the 70s, we have increased…
• Grains by 29%
• Corn by 300%
• Vegetable oil by 300%

All of these foods increase inflammation, which can cause liver issues.
