Belly fat is just the tip of the iceberg. Find out what’s going on behind the scenes and learn what you can do about it.

What’s happening on the inside of your body when you have belly fat? Let’s talk about it. For you to have a big belly, you first have to have a fatty liver.

The liver becomes fatty due to consuming too many carbs, which turn to fat in the liver and around the organs. Eventually, the fat from the liver will spill over into other organs. All of this comes from a high-carb diet as well as frequent eating.

In many cases, people don’t associate their belly fat with any other health problems. At least, initially. They may not even see a high blood sugar problem for a few decades. This is because insulin is taking care of the blood sugar levels. But, doctors don’t typically test insulin levels, so they won’t see that your insulin is too high and is leading to a blood sugar problem.

You probably won’t know you have a fatty liver. You’ll just see that you have a large belly. But, as the years go on, you can develop diabetes.

The deeper cause of insulin resistance is really a fatty liver. The liver can’t function right, and everything starts backing up. But, a high-carb diet is what’s really behind all of this.

Other symptoms of high blood sugar and high insulin:
• Frequent urination
• Fatigue
• Sleep apnea
• A weakened immune system
• Arthritis
• Cravings
• Metabolic syndrome (high blood pressure, heart disease, fatty liver diabetes type 2)

All of these things, plus the belly fat, are coming from the same things: a high carb diet, high blood glucose, and high insulin. But, the good news is that the Healthy Keto diet and intermittent fasting may help.

In this video, we’re going to talk about why silymarin in milk thistle is a powerhouse for the liver.

Silymarin is a group of phytonutrients that makes up 60% of the active components in milk thistle.

Silymarin has been used for thousands of years. Between 40 and 90 AD, this herb was used for snakebites. In the 16th century, it was used for jaundice and gallstones, and in the 19th century, it was used for liver disorders.

Keep in mind that your liver filters out milk thistle very quickly, so repeated doses throughout the day are necessary to experience the most benefits.

What makes silymarin in milk thistle a unique powerhouse for the liver? Take a look.

1. Reduces liver and kidney toxicity

2. Used to help combat alcoholism naturally

3. Counters toxicity related to chemotherapy

4. Prevents liver fibrosis and decreases liver inflammation

5. Modulates insulin resistance and helps reduce liver fat

6. Neutralizes poison from poisonous mushrooms

7. Regenerates liver cells

8. Helps with depression

9. Reduces an enlarged prostate

10. Reduces varicose veins

If you haven’t tried this herb yet, you could be missing out on some great benefits with minimal side effects.

If you give milk thistle a try, let me know how it works for you in the comments below.

There are many beneficial herbs for the liver. Many herbs that are bitter have all sorts of phytochemicals that support the liver. Milk thistle and stinging nettle root are two very powerful herbs for the liver. Plants like dandelion greens may also be good for the liver.

But, there are also herbs that are toxic to the liver in large amounts. The herbs I’m going to cover don’t affect everyone, but they can affect some people.

6 herbs that are toxic to the liver:
1. Kava kava
This herb is great for relaxation and to help get rid of stress. But, many companies sell products that contain the whole plant, including the stems and leaves, which are a bit more toxic to the liver than the roots. Kava kava should never be taken with drugs or alcohol because it can hold the chemical in the liver longer, creating damage. Your saliva has certain enzymes to deal with the toxicity that could affect the liver. So, the traditional way to use kava kava is to chew the roots and spit them out.

2. Chaparral
This herb has been used for over 50 different ailments. But, it has been banned in many different countries and has been known to be poisonous. Even though you can still buy it, I would choose safer herbs to avoid any potential problems. This herb may affect the liver’s ability to detoxify.

3. Germander
This herb has been used as a natural remedy for many different things. But, unfortunately, it could lead to hepatitis and liver cirrhosis in a certain percentage of the population.

4. Impila
This herb can be highly toxic to the liver and kidneys in certain people, so I would avoid it.

5. Red clover
This herb can potentially create a toxic liver in humans. While it may be good for some health issues, it can also negatively affect the liver. Be sure when you choose to take an herb for an ailment that it won’t cause problems for another area of the body.

6. St. John’s wort
This herb can be very beneficial if someone has depression or anxiety. However, it shouldn’t be combined with medications. There are many different complications with this herb and other medications. It might not directly cause liver damage, but it could cause liver damage indirectly by concentrating the other medications.

In this video, we’re going to talk about how to reduce your liver fat by almost 50% in 14 days.

I found an interesting intervention study that showed that obese patients were able to decrease their liver fat by 43.8% in just two weeks. How?

The participants were limited to less than 30 carbs per day—that’s the keto diet.

There were some interesting things that happened in the study:
1. Only 1.8% weight loss
2. No change in waist size
3. Decreased carb to fat conversion by 79.8%
4. Increase fat burning (fatty acid oxidation)

This tells us that the keto diet starts working internally first before you start to see results on your waistline. Your body starts burning liver fat before it starts burning belly fat.

Many people stop doing keto after a week or two because they don’t see immediate results. That’s a mistake because it can take weeks or months to become fully keto-adapted.

Here are some more interesting facts about this study:
• Did not lower calories (avg. 3115 calories per day)
• Significantly lower marker for liver damage
• Significantly lower fasting insulin levels + HOMA-IR
• Improved insulin sensitivity
• Lowered liver inflammation
• Rapid increase in folate (producing bacteria + blood folate)
• 94 bacterial strains were altered (major shifts in just one day)

Today, I want to cover what you need to know about an inflamed liver. In many cases, people are unaware that they have inflammation in the liver. This can allow it to progress leading to scar tissue and cirrhosis. But, the good news is that the liver is one of the only organs that can completely regenerate.

People don’t typically experience any symptoms of an inflamed liver until it has progressed. One of the big symptoms is lethargy. An inflamed liver, scar tissue, or a fatty liver can lead to additional problems like arthritis, decreased thyroid function, and digestive problems. It can also create a weakness in the gallbladder.

A few causes of inflammation in the liver:
• Sugar
• Refined carbs
• Alcohol
• Vegetable oils
• Snacking

Autoimmune conditions can also lead to an inflamed liver. Something else to keep in mind is that cancer tends to travel to areas of inflammation. It’s important to try to eliminate as much inflammation as possible.

With inflammation in the liver, you slowly lose liver function over time. But, the interesting thing about the liver is that you don’t actually need much of it to function normally. It can take a beating and regenerate as long as you don’t let it get too bad. Cruciferous vegetables are one of the best things to consume to help support the liver.

What you could do if you have an inflamed liver:
1. Take milk thistle (500mg per day)
2. Take vitamin D3 (10,000-20,000+ IUs per day)
3. Do intermittent fasting (at least 18 hours per day)
4. TUDCA (2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon on an empty stomach)
5. Take tocotrienols (300mg with a meal)
6. Take selenium (200mcg)

In this video, we’re going to talk about the most common cause of a liver transplant.

The #1 most common cause of a liver transplant in the US (and the second most common cause in the world) is acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is most commonly purchased as Tylenol in the US and Paracetamol in Europe.

Acetaminophen is in many different over-the-counter and prescription medications, including:
• Alka-Seltzer Plus
• Benadryl
• Excedrin
• Percocet
• Robitussin
• Sudafed
• TheraFlu
• Vick’s
• NyQuil
• DayQuil
• Vicodin

Many of these medications contain a gram of acetaminophen. The problem is, having 4 grams per day is considered an overdose. The maximum recommended amount of acetaminophen is 3 grams in 24 hours.

Acetaminophen destroys the liver cells—especially in high amounts. This destruction is often irreversible.

Even normal doses (3 grams or less) of acetaminophen can cause liver damage with these other risk factors:
• Fatty liver
• Cirrhosis
• Hepatitis
• Alcohol consumption
• Smoking
• SSRIs
• Antibiotics
• Aspartame

The liver makes two enzymes that dismantle the toxins in acetaminophen and turn them into harmless substances. When you overload these two enzymes with acetaminophen, it becomes saturated. A third enzyme then comes in to try to cope with this saturation. In turn, your glutathione levels deplete. Glutathione is an antioxidant that helps protect the liver from damage.

When this protection is compromised, your liver cells can begin to die.

It can be very easy to overdose on acetaminophen. Just two doses of NyQuil and Alka-Seltzer Plus twice a day will put 4450mg of acetaminophen in your body, which is an overdose.

If you accidentally take too much acetaminophen, there are three options:
1. Take activated charcoal within one hour
2. Take NAC and milk thistle
3. Liver transplant

Let’s talk about 4 interesting natural remedies for an organ transplant. Just be sure to check with your doctor before applying any of this information. I’m not telling you to come off of your medication or replace your medication with these natural remedies. These are a few natural things that you could talk to your doctor about applying along with your medication.

If you have an organ transplant, your own immune system will try to reject it. So, there is a huge inflammatory situation. Because of this, your doctor will put you on drugs to suppress the immune system. These drugs do have side effects that can include increasing your risk of infection and an upset stomach.

Potential remedies for organ transplant:
1. Red sage

• COPD
• Cardiovascular disease

2. Thunder duke vine (thunder god vine)

Today, let’s talk about ascites. Ascites is a condition where someone’s belly is protruded like a basketball. But it’s not fat. It’s mostly fluid. The liver is leaking certain fluid into a sack around the abdominal organs.

The most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is a condition where the liver has scar tissue that’s overwhelming the function of the liver. Now, the liver can’t function properly and is leaking fluid into the gut.

Other potential causes of cirrhosis are:
• Cancer
• TB
• Pancreatitis
• Heart disease

Associated symptoms:
• Portal hypertension
• Edema in the lower legs
• Bruising
• Gynecomastia
• Vomiting blood
• Confusion and cognitive dysfunction (potential remedies for this include: lactulose, sauerkraut, veggies, a moderate amount of protein, l-glutamine)

If I had ascites, I would start:
• Intermittent fasting
• Taking milk thistle
• Taking vitamin E (tocotrienols)
• Taking selenium
• A low-carb diet
