Today we’re going to talk about how playing in the dirt can be beneficial for kids. More specifically, they should be playing in the soil.

The difference between dirt and soil:
1. Dirt is dead. This could be sand, rock, or clay.

2. Soil is living. It contains bacteria and fungus, which make nutrients available.

There are two parts of the immune system. There is the innate part, which you’re born with. Then there is the acquired part. The acquired part learns from the environment.

If a child is sick, I believe the best thing is to let the child go through the infection while providing them with key nutrients and allow them to build up antibodies.

There is a huge connection between the gut and the brain. There are a lot of microbes in the gut that play an important part in the immune system. The microbes work together to help keep pathogens from invading the body.

Potential benefits of children being outside more often than inside:
1. A decreased risk of asthma, allergies, and autoimmune issues

2. Less inflammation and respiratory illness

3. Improved mental health (both cognitive function and mood)

I want to increase your awareness of how antibiotics can affect children later in life. There is a very important link between what goes on in the digestive system and what happens in your brain.

You have close to 100 trillion microbes both inside and outside of the body, most of which live in your gut. If those microbes are altered in a certain way, it can create huge effects on your cognitive state and your emotional state.

Penicillin is the most commonly prescribed antibiotic for children. Antibiotics can change the type of microbes living in your gut, as well as the number of microbes and the ratios of microbes to fungus.

One big effect of an altered microbiome is an alteration of the gene expression of both the frontal cortex of the brain and the amygdala, which has a lot to do with fear responses and stress responses.

This could affect your memory and put you in a fear state (anxiety) and a stress state (high cortisol). So, antibiotics early in life could potentially affect a child’s cognitive and emotional state later in life.

In other videos, I also talk about how it can affect the immune system, increase the risk of allergies and asthma, and slow down metabolism.

Antibiotics given to children can potentially increase the risk of certain things later in life, such as:
• Depression
• Autism
• Anxiety
• ADHD

What you can do:
• Be sure the antibiotics are necessary
• Make sure the child doesn’t consume foods that contain antibiotics (buy foods that are organic, grass-fed, and antibiotic-free)
• If the child has to take an antibiotic, make sure they also take a probiotic at the same time, and after they stop taking the antibiotic
• Allow the child’s immune system to learn from the environment
• Keep key nutrients high (zinc, calcium, and vitamin D)

I wanted to create this video to increase your awareness of the importance of vitamin C, especially in helping to prevent infections.

An interesting new study demonstrated that 82% of critically ill COVID-19 patients were vitamin C deficient. Overall, they had 4x less vitamin C than the normal group. In the study, 18% of the group had 8x less vitamin C than normal.

If you don’t have enough vitamin C, you could be predisposed to getting viral infections as well as bacterial infections. Also, if you have an infection, your body’s requirement for vitamin C goes up. This means that people that don’t have enough vitamin C are at risk for more viral infections. Once they have a viral infection, they need more vitamin C to counter it.

Vitamin C:
1. Is an antioxidant
• It also increases the body’s ability to make antioxidants

2. Supports the immune system
• It’s crucial in making more phagocytes (which eat pathogens)
• It’s necessary to make T-cells (which help kill viruses)
• It increases antibodies (which attack foreign pathogens)
• It decreases the risk of acute respiratory infection

3. Is a powerful anti-inflammatory
• It’s especially important if you have an overactive immune system that produces an excessive amount of inflammation

Let’s talk about what makes good bacteria turn bad. Some bacteria do a lot of good things for us. Other bacteria are neutral. They don’t harm or help the body. But, sometimes, harmless bacteria will flip and become harmful.

The key factor that changes good bacteria into bad bacteria is their environment. Things like changes in pH, oxidative stress, temperature, and chemicals can affect the environment in the body.

Depending on what you eat, the environment in your body can change drastically. Antibiotics can also change the body’s environment very fast.

When bacteria are stressed because of environmental pressures, they develop colonies and protect themselves with biofilms. Biofilms are difficult to get rid of, and they’re linked to many different diseases.

When the body is under stress, the immune system becomes weakened. This makes us very susceptible to pathogens and developing infections. Out of all of the things that can harm us from an infection, I think the biggest factor is stress.

How to help prevent pathogens:
1. Make sure the environment your microbes live in is very friendly
2. Only take an antibiotic if you absolutely need it
3. If you take an antibiotic, also take a probiotic
4. Do whatever you can to minimize your stress level
5. Make sure your diet is very good (do healthy keto)
6. Do intermittent fasting

In this video, we’re going to talk about why zinc starves deadly bacteria.

In the Journal of Nature Chemical Biology, a study was published that outlined zinc’s incredible ability to starve off a deadly bacteria called streptococcus pneumonia.

Streptococcus pneumonia lives in the sinuses and throat. This can be friendly bacteria until just the right conditions occur for it to turn pathogenic.

If you are zinc deficient and you’re going through stress, this bacteria can become very harmful. This is because these conditions can cause your immune system to become compromised.

Streptococcus pneumonia kills one million people every year from pneumonia and meningitis.

This bacteria is dependent on manganese. Manganese allows this bacteria to transport. Zinc acts as a key to lock up manganese so the bacteria can’t be transported.

However, most people are deficient in zinc because of the phytic acid we consume in grains. Phytic acid blocks zinc.

Let’s talk about an important gene that can help protect you from disease, including cancer. The name of this gene is Nrf-2 (nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor-2).

This gene triggers hundred of other genes that have a function of cytoprotection. They protect the cell. This gene is coined master of the antioxidant response element (ARE). Basically, it activates a lot of antioxidants in your body.

There are external antioxidants, and then there are internal (endogenous) antioxidants that your body makes. This gene regulates the endogenous antioxidant genes. It also helps regulate the detoxification genes and the genes that control inflammation.

Many different health conditions, including cancer, can occur because there is some type of mitochondrial dysfunction. If there is any mitochondrial dysfunction, the Nrf-2 machinery kicks in and starts to neutralize the oxidation and free radicals that are coming from the carcinogens. This can help you avoid DNA damage and disease.

It has been found that certain people have overexpression of this gene—it’s more activated. That could be why some people can do things like eat junk food, smoke, and drink, and still live a long time.

There are people who have a normal expression of this gene. These people are prone to disease and cancer to a certain degree. Then, there are people who have an underexpression of this gene who are very prone to getting cancer.

The good news is that there are genes, which you’re not defined as, and then you have epigenetics, which is above genetics. Epigenetics control the genes.

This means that even though your genes are telling the body to do a certain thing, if the epigenetic factors are active, that can overcome the expression of that gene.

You have to work harder at improving your epigenetics. This means you need to work on:
• Avoiding certain chemicals in your environment
• Keeping your exercise consistent
• Keeping your stress level in check
• Getting consistent, good, high-quality sleep
• Consuming certain foods that naturally have high levels of antioxidants that you can benefit from (cruciferous vegetables and more)

In this video, we’re going to talk about animals that are resistant to diseases that kill humans. This is a fascinating topic, and I’d like to share this interesting information with you.

Elephants – Elephants have 100x more cells than humans, but they have incredibly low rates of cancer. Why? Scientists found 20 copies of the TP53 gene, which suppresses tumor cells. Humans only have 1 of these genes. The TP53 gene is known as the “guardian of the genome.”

Naked mole rats – Naked mole rats are also protected from cancer. This is due to having extremely high levels of something called hyaluronan, which can cage cancer cells. They are also protected from hypoxia (a lack of oxygen). This is likely due to living underground most of their lives. Naked mole rats have special protection against oxidative stress due to a high-expressed gene called Nrf. Today we’re going to talk about what I believe is the most important thing you can do to potentially help prevent cancer. We’re going to talk about fasting.

A protocol a person may want to consider if they’re interested in preventing cancer:
1. OMAD (one meal a day) on a regular basis
2. Do a 48 hour fast on the weekends
3. Take sea salt (1-1.5 tsp.), B vitamins, and trace minerals
4. Do a seven day fast every month (build-up to this)

Why intermittent fasting could potentially help:
• It can stop mTOR (a growth factor)
• It can decrease IGF-1 (a growth factor)
• It can stimulate autophagy (recycle old damaged proteins)
• It can generate new stem cells for your immune system (your immune system kills cancer cells)
• It can drop inflammation
• It can increases resistance for normal cells when exposed to chemotherapy and radiation therapy (cancer cells will be sensitive to chemotherapy and radiation therapy)

A few natural things someone could try if they have cancer:
• Alpha-lipoic acid (.4-.8g per day, start small and gradually increase over 2-3 weeks)
• Garcinia (1.2-3g per day, start small and gradually increase over 2-3 weeks)
• Red algae (8g per day)
• Black seed oil (500mg 2x per day)
• Garlic
• Green tea
• Cruciferous vegetables (including broccoli sprouts)

In this video, we’re going to talk about how zinc levels can help prevent covid-19 severity.

The Journal of Nutrients released a study that showed that people with low zinc (less than 50mcg/dl) have an increased risk of mortality (21%) due to a covid-19 infection compared to those with healthy zinc levels (5%). That’s a significant difference.

Those who have low zinc also took three times as long (25 days) to recover from a covid-19 infection compared to those with healthy levels of zinc (8 days).

There were also increases in the severity of the symptoms and inflammation in those with low zinc.
