In this short video, I want to cover the wonderful benefits of rosemary.

Rosemary is an amazing herb that people use for all different kinds of things. People use rosemary as tea. They also use it in their food, marinades, stews, soups, and food preservatives. Rosemary is even used in certain cosmetics.

Rosemary has some very interesting properties, mainly from rosmarinic acid. Rosmarinic acid is the main phytonutrient in rosemary, and it has some really cool effects.

Rosemary can help stimulate hair growth when used as an oil and applied to the scalp. One study showed a significant change when using rosemary to help inhibit cognitive decline. Another study showed that rosemary can increase insulin sensitivity and help with weight loss. Rosemary is also neuroprotective.

There are potential benefits when using rosemary for:
• Epilepsy
• Pain relief
• Infertility
• Anxiety
• Constipation
• Muscle pain
• Diabetes
• Inflammation

If you have insulin resistance, which is very common, rosemary is a very good herb to use in your food on a regular basis.

Male breast cancer is becoming more common. 1 out of 100 breast cancer cases diagnosed in the United States involves men.

Risk factors for breast cancer in men:
1. Medications that involve estrogen
• For example, certain treatments for the prostate.

2. Radiation
• Radiation from x-rays or cat scans involving the breast tissue can increase your risk.

3. Cirrhosis of the liver
• This advanced scar tissue of the liver can cause your androgens to decrease and your estrogen to increase. A healthy liver is also needed to detoxify excess estrogen.

4. Alcohol
• Alcoholic beverages, like beer, can increase estrogen.

5. Being overweight
• Fatty tissue is like a magnet for estrogen.

6. Plastic chemicals

7. Soy
• If you consume non-certified organic soy, you’re being exposed to hexane, which is a neurotoxin. There are also other things in soy that can increase your estrogen levels. Soy can be found in many vegetarian foods, fake meats, protein bars, diet shakes, and textured vegetable protein. You should also avoid soy protein isolates, and soy protein concentrates.

**Cruciferous vegetables are the best protective foods against estrogen. Be sure to consume these on a regular basis and do what you can to avoid things that will increase your estrogen levels, like soy.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the necessity of germs.

Humans have coevolved with microbes for a very long time. Microbes have been on earth for much longer than humans have.

We have a beneficial relationship with many microbes—they give us certain things, and we give them a home to live in.

There’s something called the hygiene theory, which analyzes the benefits of microbes in early childhood for the resistance to diseases, allergies, and autoimmune conditions.

Microbes play an important part in building up immunity. This is why you should let your kids play in the dirt, and why kids who grow up in a sterile environment tend to experience more health issues.

Babies are born with the innate part of their immune system, which is received from the mother. However, there’s also the acquired immune system. At birth, this part of the immune system is a blank slate—it’s developed over time with exposure to microbes.

You have 100-trillion microbes growing inside your body and on your skin surface. Without a diverse microbiome, your body is more susceptible to harmful pathogens. This is why those who scrub their face too much can wipe out important flora and create more acne.

Conventional farming uses many chemicals that destroy important protective microbes. Going organic or growing your own food can help support a healthy microbiome.

Microbes are important for the nutritional content of plants. Plants supply carbohydrates to microbes, and microbes supply vitamins and minerals to plants.

Today we’re going to talk about how playing in the dirt can be beneficial for kids. More specifically, they should be playing in the soil.

The difference between dirt and soil:
1. Dirt is dead. This could be sand, rock, or clay.

2. Soil is living. It contains bacteria and fungus, which make nutrients available.

There are two parts of the immune system. There is the innate part, which you’re born with. Then there is the acquired part. The acquired part learns from the environment.

If a child is sick, I believe the best thing is to let the child go through the infection while providing them with key nutrients and allow them to build up antibodies.

There is a huge connection between the gut and the brain. There are a lot of microbes in the gut that play an important part in the immune system. The microbes work together to help keep pathogens from invading the body.

Potential benefits of children being outside more often than inside:
1. A decreased risk of asthma, allergies, and autoimmune issues

2. Less inflammation and respiratory illness

3. Improved mental health (both cognitive function and mood)
