Today we’re going to talk about what you can do if you have a fatty liver. I’m also going to share an incredible success story to help inspire you on your journey to better health.

After just six months on keto, a patient with a liver that was beyond just fatty went from having an enlarged liver to a normal liver. This was an incredible success story, and I want to hear yours too!

Many people who have a fatty liver also have diabetes. This is because both a fatty liver and diabetes are typically caused by the same thing, which is insulin resistance.

Too much insulin can lead to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance can lead to diabetes. Excess insulin and a high-carb diet (which created this situation) can lead to a fatty liver.

it’s okay to hate yourself it’s gonna be okay to have anger towards others it’s gonna be okay to want to have solitude and just to be lonely sometimes it’s gonna be okay to have mood swings to go up and down and it’s gonna be okay to relapse because you might here’s the thing when you go through any kind of transformation whether it be weight loss whether it be mental whether it be spiritual whatever you’re going to encounter things that weren’t even imaginable until you actually encounter them and even then they’re not gonna seem like much because retro actively years later when you look back you’re gonna realize that what you went through was pretty wild in the transformation that occurs through all facets of your life are going to be unbelievably earth-shattering now I lost 100 pounds quite frankly I lost 110 pounds but who’s counting so I went through a pretty radical transformation and you might look at my before and after pictures and you might think wow that’s a pretty impressive transformation and that’s motivating that’s inspiring and honestly that’s great and I hope that it motivates you and I hope that it inspires you but more importantly I hope that the story gives you comfort and gives you peace to know that what you’re going through is normal and what you’re about to embark on and what you’re about to experience is something that you can absolutely handle so let’s go ahead and let’s take a little ride on my story man I’ll give you some of the struggles and I’ll give you some of the things that I wish I would have changed but more importantly I just want to connect with you and share with you the details you see you look at my channel and you think this guy does a lot of intermittent fasting content he must really be riding the trends and really just knowing that that’s hot right now well maybe I just had a good finger on the pulse of what was going on but ten years ago when I started intermittent fasting I had no idea that I was ever going to be doing this you know and the fact is is that I’ve lost a lot of weight and I’m indebted to intermittent fasting because that is why I am here doing what I do right now it is why I can support and feed my family doing this it is why I can create jobs and help stimulate the economy and have fun with an amazing team because of intermittent fasting and because of the steps that I took see I wasn’t always fit okay you see I was an athlete but I wasn’t exactly fit when I was in high school okay I was just moderate shape but I worked out a lot and I ran cross-country and I ran track and I did those things but guess what I did a lot of damage to my body at a young age yeah I actually ran a lot and it was case in point even at a young age and I was running a lot that I probably was doing damage to my body but let me not bore you with those details point is I started to mess up my hips and I started to mess up my knees and it got to a point where hey let me try lifting instead let me try doing some weight lifting so I started doing that well what comes with weightlifting with any young man you want to build muscle right so you start eating and you start listening to all the propaganda that’s out there you started reading the muscle building magazines you start reading that and you start taking the supplements and you start doing all this to try to put on muscle but then life happens right so you’re trying to put on muscle because you can’t run anymore you just want to be a big strong man and then guess what then careers start stress hits and you stop working out but in my case I continued to eat like I was working out and quite frankly I didn’t even know what was going on I didn’t realize I was even gaining that much weight because I wasn’t all that in touch with my body I was so focused on my career I was so focused on making my family happy I was so focused on chasing coin that quite frankly I just didn’t care okay so as time went on I ultimately gained 120 ish pounds now I gained that hundred and twenty pounds in a short amount of time why because when you’re eating a lot of food and when you’re sedentary and then you add stress into the mix it comes on and it comes on hard and it comes on fast I can arguably say that there’s all these different things nutritionally that can mess us up and can ruin us but I will go on record by saying that stress is the number one thing mental stress physical stress whatever it might be it can cause a lot of damage and what you were putting in your body don’t forget is going to cause stress as well and exacerbate that stress but let’s not you know beat that to death right now let’s go ahead and let’s talk about some more tactical things right so intermittent fasting started my journey I started with intermittent fasting because I had some of the best people in the healthcare community tell me that it was what I should do people that were concerned for my health people that were concerned for my family people that were concerned for just the future they would say Thomas you’re a smart guy and you’re working hard and why are you like this you could do so much with your life and maybe it was how I was raised maybe I don’t know I just didn’t see it in myself so it took some important people that were valuable to me at that point in time to catapult me into that so I started intermittent fasting not really knowing what I was doing I was intermittent fasting simply because it was easy I could go for a period of time without eating and then eat but there was no regiment it wasn’t like I was following a structured plan I just would go until 3:00 4:00 p.m. and then eat and then that was just it and it quite frankly probably wasn’t healthy because it developed a weird addiction to it which happens to a lot of people by the way which might be one of the reasons why I always say be careful whenever I’m talking about intermittent fasting so there I went I lost about 50 pounds in six months not too shabby okay and if you’ve seen people that start intermittent fasting that’s not uncommon to see but a lot of times they stall at that 50 pounds right well that’s when I said okay I need to get a little bit more aggressive with this and that’s at the point where I added keto and whether you like that or not just still hear me out on this video because I know not everyone’s doing keto that does fasting and yada yada and I’m not trying to push anything but more importantly than adding keto so I became obsessed with nutrition what I mean by that is I didn’t start in just diving into the research full-bore at that point no I became obsessed with how my body responded to foods and that’s how I fell in love with the process and that’s how the weight continued to fall off you see I hit that 50-pound plateau but then what allowed me to continue was enjoying what was happening inside my body and that’s why I’m doing these videos because I want you to share the same passion of what is happening at a cellular level inside your body I want you to share the same excitement for the process because I will tell you not to sound cliche it is not the freaking destination okay it is the journey and if you don’t sit there and embrace that journey and know what is going on inside your body you’re just a talking head it doesn’t matter so as I got healthier business improved for me okay I was working in the healthcare industry I wasn’t running my own business but I was my own production was improving and I realized that as I was healthier wow I was unlocking all this potential and I think it had something to do with the fasting and probably something to do with the keto and definitely not gonna lie there but I think a lot of it was just I less inflamed and I was healthier so I figured you know what it’s time to just go out on my own start my own business do my own thing make money for myself right and the interesting thing is that you would think that that would just open up this whole new world of freedom this whole new world of excitement and here’s a brand new Thomas haha no the opposite the stress the financial stress not knowing where my check was going to come from not knowing if I could take care of my wife not knowing if I really had a future so guess what weren’t Plateau number two okay all of a sudden I was responsible not just for keeping myself alive day to day but I was also responsible for keeping my wife alive and keeping my family going and keeping a future going and not wanting to go back to the nine-to-five right okay now let’s not go down that rabbit hole but the point is it stalled me even more but I do want to address another thing that’s probably a little bit more practical when I look back in retrospect I was stressed out so what did that caused me to do it caused me to fast and then binge fast and then binge and I did this on the daily I was still fasting but my results were stopping because when I was eating I was eating the wrong things I was eating an overabundance of things and quite frankly at that point in time I was doing more of a modified one meal a day type of diet because it was just the natural progression and now if I know what I if I knew what I know today then it would be a whole different story because I talked about how if you just load yourself up with a bunch of food at one sitting it backfires well this is what I was dealing with now the interesting thing was I wasn’t really paying attention to what was going on it was just happening because I was stressed out and I was just focused on other things once again are you seeing a pattern here I’m losing touch with me and I’m focusing on the external constantly so it’s making it so that well I lose touch the same way that I gained 120 pounds in the first place I was also too dang strict when I was trying to button it up I just I didn’t live life a normal way I lived it either totally on or totally off either completely fast and then binge or was one strategy or then another strategy would just be so ridiculously strict that I wouldn’t ever give myself life let’s talk about some of the things I probably would have changed and I’ve talked about this in other videos but it’s important to rope it all here yeah I surrounded myself with the wrong people okay you’re the product of the five people that you spend the most time around that’s been said time and time again but I cannot overemphasize how important that is so when you’re losing weight when you’re going through a transformation and you’re hanging around the same people that you’ve always hung around with remember their attitudes gonna rub off on you and they’re not gonna like the fact that you’re making a radical transformation in your life whether it’s physical or mental spiritual whatever it’s gonna be different for them so they’re not gonna be accepting of it some of them might be but quite frankly I hate to break it to you a good majority of them are not so I did not branch out and try to make new friends and the most important thing that I learned out of this was I should have just accepted the fact that it’s okay to be alone every now and then I had my wife so I was never fully alone right but have you ever heard the saying alone but not lonely I should have embraced that I didn’t want to be alone so I continued to surround myself with people that I thought would comfort me but all they did is bring me down because they weren’t calling the same mission that I was on I should have just accepted the fact that it’s okay to just be alone for a little bit anyhow I digress on that but except that because I know it’s gonna touch a few people the anger drive you’ve seen videos where I talk about my stretch marks and if you haven’t show some footage of my stretch marks right now yeah I’ve got him all over the place and I’ve done videos on them and I would get so angry with my stretch marks because they were not a sign of my my my transformation they were a sign of my negligence because stretch marks you don’t get stretch marks when you lose weight you get stretch marks when you gain weight so it’s constantly a reminder of a cruddy part of my life where I gained weight it’s not my story of how I lost weight right okay but that being said it would just it ruins so much for me so that being said it was really frustrating but then I learned to love the anger Drive it’s okay to take that anger and use it as Drive with one important important caveat that anger Drive can only be a shot in the arm for a quick burst every now and then you cannot live on anger Drive you can live on intention and purpose and anger Drive is going to get you through every once in a while those little things that just you need that pick-me-up right so look at the stretch marks and I get a little anger drive out of it now I look at them differently now I look at them as something that quite frankly furthers my business along and furthers my family along and furthers my story but that will change over time so then I lost weight then I had a good body quite frankly I busted my butt and flash forward a little bit I started doing some work in the fitness industry and the fitness industry internally made me a monster the people that were in the fitness industry were not the healthy people that I needed to surround myself around so there was a period of time where the fitness industry I think made me something that I’m really not it took me away from my roots and what I mean by that is I got focused on the vanity aspect for a little bit I would still arguably say that within the industry I probably stayed pretty humble compared to a lot of others but it’s still it got me focused on the external way too much so that’s where my mission changed it was at that point in time when I realized I need to bridge a gap between health and fitness because fitness is not necessarily health fitness is florescent supplements and over marketed propaganda and over marketed six-packs and over marketed people that are quite frankly using performance enhancements and it’s just not fair we should be inspired by our own stories and we should be inspired by what we want to be if you want to be the person on the magazine then be the person on the magazine but don’t do it to be that person do it to be your version of that person and better because that is just a two-dimensional image and quite frankly that two-dimensional image that you see on that magazine that’s about what you get in that industry usually it’s two-dimensional it doesn’t even go to 3d let alone the actual reality that life is so how did I make the biggest improvement when I stopped focusing on my physical health and I focused on my mental health by focusing on my mental health everything fell together it should have been step 1 but instead ended up being step 27 the mental health piece was the biggest piece that it could have possibly ever thrown into the mix but it seemed so distant from losing the body fat it seems distant from changing my physical body it’s so hard when you’re in the mixed it it’s pause and say hey I don’t want to go run on the track today I don’t want to go beat the pavement I want to sit down I want to meditate I want to get my head straight why because that’s not active and that goes against the grain of everything that we’re seeing on YouTube with get active get out there but I’ll tell you if I had to spent 10 minutes meditating versus 60 minutes pounding the pavement I would have made a lot more progress a lot faster and I don’t mean to say that you need to meditate I mean it get your head on straight also take breaks give yourself a break again I want to throw some huge huge credit to a company in this video because they sponsored this video not because the money piece they sponsor this video because their friendly for after you break a fast it’s like a little cake kind of thing it’s hard to describe but it’s a treat that you can have on keto that doesn’t have sugar made from flax made from chia really good clean stuff and quite frankly my point is if I had things like that when I was losing weight it would have made a big difference because I could have actually enjoyed those things I came from a generation when I was first starting intermittent fasting and doing Aikido where I was having to make all my own fat bombs I was having to do all this stuff myself and by the way you might hate on me for having a sponsor in this video because it’s a video that comes from the heart but I also try to align myself with brands that come from the heart so hate me for it if you want to but if you’re someone that’s a true follower and someone that’s really trying to gain something this then you understand the whole point right so anyhow there’s always going to be things that you can look back and say oh well if I had this in place it would have helped so you have to live with what you’ve got today and take advantage of those kinds of things but at the same time you also have to be proactive you also have to seek those things because your mental health is more important than anything and you need that brick so I come back to the struggles that I talked about the beginning this video and kind of wrap this up with this and just to motivate you as much as I possibly can it is a ok to hate yourself as long as you don’t hate yourself forever it’s ok to look in the mirror and hate what you see because that anger drive is going to push you forward but hating yourself for one moment is not hating yourself for ever and hating yourself is also ok because you have to be real with your emotions and you have to step back for a second say yes I hate myself right now but does that mean that you live that ok what is happening there are still days I look in the mirror and I don’t like what I look like but do I do I give myself some false affirmation when I feel like I look like garbage and I look in the mirror and I say you look great you look great you look great and try to visualize and fake it no I look in the mirror and I say you’re not happy with how you look today that is an emotion and that is ok because I know that as the day goes on my mood will change and things will change I live in the present if you focus on it it’s gonna be a problem it’s okay to be angry with others because it’s going to happen you’re gonna be mad at your spouse because you’re gonna have moments where you deflect and you think that it’s their fault you’re gonna be angry at your dog because your dog stood in the way of the fridge and you went to the pantry instead I mean you’re gonna get angry and that is okay and it’s the same thing as it is with hating yourself okay you’re going to get angry with others not just yourself just don’t lash out and don’t act on it just embrace it you’re gonna have mood swings you’re gonna feel like you’re on top of the world and one of the things that still frustrates me to this day is when I think I figured it out and I get really happy I think I figured it out I figured out how to look as lean as possible I figured out how to be cognitively aware on video as much as possible I figured out how to have better libido I cracked the code and then three days later that code doesn’t work anymore because guess what our bodies are ever-changing and our minds in our universe so we can’t just rely on that all the time so we have to accept the fact that we will have ups and we will have downs period it’s okay to be lonely talked about this already so I’m not going to beat it up too much but it’s okay to just go and lonely do something different be by yourself go for a walk the thing that I also want to instill upon you in this video before we totally wrap up is that it’s okay to relapse now and then now food is a drug it’s addicting and you’re gonna relapse and it’s going to send you down a spiral and I don’t mean to say that you should go and you should intentionally relapse when you have to be ok with it and you have to recognize it because if you’re not ok with it you get this veil of denial and that veil of denial disconnects you from what you just did let me give you a quick example if I relapse for a week or I just go and I eat a bunch of tater tots and a bunch of taquitos but if if I’m aware of it my shoot I’m relapsing I am aware of what is going on it makes it real and it makes me register the yin and the yang the tit for tat the eye for an eye that’s going to come from that ok but if I just go into lala land and I just relapse and I let that drug consume me then I’ve put a wall between myself and reality to where I run the risk of that food affecting me at a superficial level to where I’m not internalizing it I’m not able to register a change until I have another call to action another catalyst that comes in and tells me make a change like I had to have happen 10 years ago so it’s ok to relapse just don’t do it all the time and be aware of when it happens and have a good support system not to sound cliche so anyhow I hope this video registered something with you no matter what phase of transformation you’re going through in your life because it’s important to know that other people go through it too and that just because you were raised a certain way and you think that your strategy for life is the only way and there’s a lot of other people with a lot of I wanted to create this little video to first thank you so much for watching all my YouTube videos I really appreciate your wonderful comments your attention I know that’s valuable but now I’m going to switch gears and I want to talk about you and your success now recently I’ve had just an overwhelming amount of amazing success stories come in that I want to show you these success stories are not only mind-blowing and life-changing but from the heart check these out in 2016 got off there gained a lot of weight back it was dr. burbs videos that I found that helped me get my life back on track after gaining the weight back I was diagnosed good morning with pre-diabetes about six months ago and we noticed that I experienced something called the Don effect with my fasting morning glucose and I started keto about a month ago and I’ve already lost about fourteen pounds and I’m off medication for that early I used to be like the zombie in the day whole day and even ordered your supplement from Amazon India at price rate but your goblet formula has helped me a lot for digesting the facts and it has even helped my son as his bloating and all issues so we keep on ordering it again and again thanks a lot for saving your life stress will never end but keto is helping us to fight with stress I was battling a very deadly disease and I changed the way I ate following doctor birth for over five years and I’m totally fine I’m helping a lot of other people dr. Berg being straight into the point not drawing out his videos so long but he’s so so educational in such a short amount of time I can’t tell you how thankful I am that I felt found your YouTube videos this is how I learned all about pedo I value faithfully every video that you have up I wax listening to many many many many of your videos and they were the perfect size for quick snippets of information I loved every one of them I got into your videos last summer and lost about 30 40 pounds got back down there like my college swimming weight Oh feeling pretty good been going with it from from then on I just wanted to let you know that you have completely changed my entire family’s life they’re watching your videos and getting on keto and doctor bird you played a huge part in that the information I gained from your videos and your site helped me immensely and I could never appreciate what your information has done for me more than I do now and I can never give you enough thanks for that info keep watching dr. McDonald because I live I really learned a lot there are many videos most of them you know you can watch them for free and please get the knowledge you know get the knowledge and then it’s up to you trial individual life but get the basics by dr. Byrd said that would happen happen to me migraines went away stomach went flat birthday thank you so much for changing my life um I think chronically sick for three and a half years and my health was so bad I stopped working two and a half years ago and I found you four months ago and you have helped me tremendously so thank you oh great oh I absolutely love dr. Berg and Karen Berg I loved listening to their q and A’s I thank him from the bottom my heart and I thank God for dr. Berg thank you very much for everything you’re doing and bringing together all the information that we need to hear that we’re not hearing otherwise so thank you thank you for all that you do and as I told Karen earlier today I’d love to see her cooked more because a lot of people want to see see some more recipe she’s doing what you’re doing I love it it’s helped out a lot of people and we’re gonna reach more and more and eventually this is going to be the everything everybody talks about meeting dr. Berg and Karen had been incredible there’s such great people it was it they were so welcoming and kind and those listened to us and and gave feedback I mean it was awesome it was like he is who he was who he is on duty came all the way from India just to meet dr.
